Description
The many historic buildings of Colditz bear witness to its eventful past. In the centre there is the main square with the Renaissance town hall, the church of St Egidien and the cemetery chapel St Nicolas. The town lies along both sides of the Zwickauer Mulde river and has a population of 5 000. The historic centre is on the east side of the river. The town?s landmark is the famous castle, a POW camp in World War II now attracting visitors from all over the world. A visit to the escape tunnels is an unforgettable experience. The youth hostel is in a quiet location below the castle at the Hainberg hill, only 5 min from the main square.
People of 27 years or over pay a surcharge of ?3 per night.
