5  This hostel is located in the heart Killarney, which is a gateway to the Ring of Kerry. If you are looking for a fun, vibrant, interactive youth hostel, then this is the place to go. The hostel is packed with people of all ages from a variety of countries. The guest mingle throughout the night and early morning in the alley way outside of the hostel, in the kitchen, and even in the dorm rooms. There are a lot of local pubs that stay open late during the summer months. Neptune's entrance is difficult to find. It is located down an alleyway off of New Street. The street signs are located high up on the buildings and are one-way streets. However, if you can find the free parking lot behind St. Mary's Cathedral then it is a strait shot down the road and on your left hand side. You notice the party atmosphere from the moment you walk up to the youth hostel. You can hear guitars being played from some of the rooms and people mingling out in front. The staff is extremely helpful in getting you situated and in orientating you to hidden gems in and around Killarney. There is a small common area off of reception where you will find access to Wi-Fi. To the other side of the reception is the kitchen. There are multiple sinks and counters to accommodate the large number of guests. The rooms are each equipped with card locks to insure privacy and security. The dorm beds are sturdy wood framed and surprisingly comfortable. The shared bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. They are very cramped with two stalls, two showers, and two sinks in a space just slightly bigger than a one-stall/shower bathroom. If two people are standing at the sink it is difficult to maneuver into one of the stalls. The showers are push-button operated but this is typical in larger hostels to conserve water. Overall this is a great place to meet other travelers and as a resting point before or after your trip around the Ring of Kerry. This is not a hostel to find peace and quiet.  , United States ()
