Wow! It's difficult to put into words how amazing Ostello Bello really is. Excellent location, top facilities, and a really great vibe make this hostel the only place to stay when you visit Milan.

The Location

The hostel is located at Via Medici 4, which is a little side street off the main road Via Torino. It is approximately fifteen minutes to walk to the main tourist attraction the Duomo, as well to the nearest metro station (Duomo). Around the corner from the hostel is a well-equipped supermarket, as well as a Billa Supermarket about ten minutes' walk away. Via Torino is one of the main shopping streets in Milan, where you will find just about every chain store and can shop to you heart's content.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are spacious, and the hostel offers both private and dorm rooms with en suite bathrooms. This hostel is all about the cute little touches. In the dorm rooms, there is a little whiteboard, where the staff record which guests are staying in the room that night, so it is very easy to make friends and remember their names! There is also a little herb garden on each windowsill, which guests are encouraged to water at their leisure. Each of the bunk beds has an individual reading light as well as a powerpoint for charging electronics. Linen is included. There are underbed cage-type lockers, which will easily fit a large backpack. Locks are included.

The bathrooms are also very spacious, and there is ample room for all of your shower items. There are hooks for hanging items as well as shelves in the shower for bath items. Bathmats and hand towels are a nice touch and prevent the large pools of water on the floor that you quite often see at other hostels.

Common Spaces

The common spaces are the best thing about this hostel. The kitchen is well equipped and has all items necessary for whipping up a home-cooked meal. Unfortunately, there is no oven. There is a really nice dining/terrace area just off the kitchen, and it is a lovely space where you can eat and chat with fellow travelers. If you don´t feel like cooking, then head downstairs to the bar and enjoy a drink with a free aperitivo. The atmosphere is excellent, and there are often many local people to socialise with. There is also a cafe selling delicious items cooked by the in-house chef (we can recommend the muffins!). Breakfast is included and is delicious! There is a large selection of cereal, toast, tea, coffee, fruit, and scrambled eggs.

The hostel offers a large book exchange, musical instruments for use, and games such as foosball. Wi-Fi is included, and works well in the rooms. If you don't have an internet capable device, the hostel has laptops they lend to hostel guests as well. There are a number of other little terraces scattered throughout the hostel if you're looking for a quiet place to curl up with a good book. The vibe is chilled and social - it is very easy to make friends if you are a solo traveler.

Summary

Stay for a night and you'll never want to leave. Ostello Bello is an excellent hostel.

5   Great hostel, friendly, clean and a great vibe! I have been to quite a few hostels by now and this definitely rates in my top 3 ever! Best hostel in Milan by far and worth the little extra compared to other hostels. Location Perfect. Beds very comfortable. Rooms spotless. Common areas filled with friendly people and a great vibe.  , age 27, Australian ()
