The Hostelz.com Review
Somewhere to Stay is located not far from central Brisbane. It's at 45 Brighton Road, within walking distance to the southbank parklands and a nice to walk during the evenings. From there you can just keep walking to the CBD, or choose to take a ferry across the river. On the downside, it can be quite a hassle to find this place. If you're coming with public transportation, it's not a problem: just call the hostel, and you can be picked up from almost anywhere in Brisbane. If you're coming with a car, you can get there easily from Boundary Street or from Vulture Street In any way, calling for directions is a good idea.

The hostel is a big one, and actually contains two buildings next to each other. Most of the rooms are 6-8 beds per room, and every room has lockers. The hostel is not too clean, though. The showers and toilets are on the second floor, accessible only by stairs from the outside of the building. In the winter it can get cold going to the shower. The hostel also has a pool and a phone, especially there for guests to receive incoming calls.

On the plus side, the cheapest rooms in the hostel are only $16 a night, probably because the hostel is not in the city center. Checkout time is strictly 10:00 AM.

Worst we ever stayed among backpackers in Australia
This is the worst backpackers we stayed in Australia. Paid for A$49 for a double bedroom on 22 May 08. The room smells and kitchen so dirty. Can't even find a spoon or fork, and all things so messy. We traveled over western australia and around gold coast. This is the worst place we ever stayed. The place also so old and not maintained. Toilets old and limited water. Sorry to say but I don't understand why is it rated so high. We just can't wait to get out of there for one-night stay. Staff are quite friendly, that's all we can say.

Nice hostel
This was a pretty good place. Located in a quiet suburb a short walk from Southbank and the city. It's very clean, which was my main concern in Brisbane after hearing everyone tell me stories of filthy, infested hostels in Brisbane.

Stayed one Month in a double. Internet Access/Availability -- $5 per hour. Communal Kitchen (No Oven), Storage boxes available ($2 deposit), Fridges in some rooms, Utensils kit ($10 deposit). This hostel has a saltwater pool and a communal TV/DVD lounge. They also provide a free shuttle bus into the CBD every hour. Work Assistance -- Poorly managed notice board, no personal assistance. SomeWhereToStay is a motel-type hostel located in Brisbane's West End. The hostel consists of two two- to three-story, stilted houses, and is in a suburban area. The nearest station (South Brisbane) is ten minutes' walk, and the hostel is a twenty-five-minute walk from the centre of Brisbane. For those who don't like to walk a free shuttle bus runs from the hostel every hour. The facilities in this hostel are reasonably well laid out and cleaned to a reasonable standard everyday. There is a selection of rooms from Dorms to Doubles and Twins. The staff members are helpful and provide no reason to complain, however the work assistance at this hostel is poor. The hostel is located ten minutes' walk from the nearest Coles supermarkets, and is close the West End cafes and Restaurants.

it seems pretty good to me. the coach service is very handy. it takes you into the transit centre and anywhere else near the city you want to go every hour for free. there is a cutlery set and fridge basket you can get for free (payable only with a small refundable deposit). the rooms and kitchen are reasonably clean. you can cook your own meals with provided utensils. it is close to many shops and a supermarket. it is not far from the city centre. the staff are pretty helpful.

We stayed in this hostel in May 2006 and would definitely stay again. Clean friendly and helpful. Booked a double room which was pleasant. Kitchen clean due to the fact they take a very small deposit for kitchen utensils which makes people clean up after them. Could do with up-grading the kitchen. Very good for it's proximity to the West End - great area to stay.

Absolutely lovely place. I met some really, really cool people here. The staff were friendly, the layout of the hostel was good, and I had the best time for sure, even though it was winter and the pool was too cold.

The place was nice, a bit far from downtown but near a nice area with shops and cafes and a supermarket. The built-up area with the artificial beach by the river is also a short walk away, as well as the theatres. The place was clean and the staff were helpful. The only problem I found was that it was a bit loud at night (because of the courtyard) and my laundry was stolen straight from the machine.

I stayed here in 2004, and the staff really are great. I liked the building. The kitchen's slightly small and there was a problem with milk theft when I was there, but I'd ascribe that to the great communal atmosphere of the place. I met some great people there, it's wicked.

This place was great. I have never met such a helpful group of people (the staff). They will help you in anyway they can. Okay, so the place is an older building but it has such a great atmosphere. It's not really close to the city but that means there's no noise and they have a shuttle bus that runs to the city every hour, every day. I made friends for life!!!

I stayed here ages ago (1989), but I still have great memories of a great place to stay!
