Flåm Vandrerhjem and Camping is located in the town of Flåm, a popular fjord resort location. Flåm is located at the tip of the longest fjord in Norway. It's beautiful and can be reached by car or boat, but the scenic trip on the train (Flåmsbana) is a must. The train stops at a waterfall (Kjosfossen) on its steep way down the valley.
This hostel/camping area is easy to find -- follow the signs from the train station/boat dock. The reception hours are long (until 11:00 pm), and though quite busy, they can usually make arrangements. If you want to make a reservation this hostel requires a reservation of at least two days. The reception has a little kiosk for buying food and snacks, and there is an abundance of local and tourist information there.
Flåm Vandrerhjem and Camping has camp plots, cabins, and group rooms. Everyone shares the building with the bathrooms, showers, dishwashing, and laundry facilities. These are kept clean and nice, and are large enough for the entire site.
The cabins have more luxurious accomodations, including a small refridgerator, dishes, pots and pans, and a hotplate. There are bunk beds for four persons, and a small table. The cabin is small for four people unless you all get along well. The group rooms are small too, and tend to be used to their full capacity. The hostel is great for socializing, and meeting new people. The hostel is close to all the town's attractions, sea kayaking, boat dock, and train station. There is also a hiking path to a beautiful waterfall (Brekkerfossen) nearby.
Flåm is a beautiful place and close by interesting places like Bergen, and the glaciers in the area. The hostel is expensive if you stay in a cabin, but is worth the price!
