The Hostelz.com Review
Hotel Lybeer is an excellent hostel in an adorable city. It's situated on a very quiet residential street about five minutes from the main sites (City Hall, Belfry, Church of the Holy Blood, etc). Once you get out of the train station, it's an easy 10 minute walk (cross the highway and follow the meandering path through the park until you can't go any farther. Then bear to the left past some cafes and in rapid succession, make two rights and a left).

While smelling a bit smoky (this is Europe, they all do), the place has old-fashioned charm and perfectly functional bathrooms in the hall. The rooms have a sink and just enough furniture to not get in the way. It's totally quiet, even as the crowds come in around midnight. And the heat works really well, too! Always a bonus.

The best part about this place was the all-out typical Belgian breakfast, which is included in the price - have your fill of cheese, breads, cereal, yogurt and even some meats. There's also free Internet, but it's painfully slow. Lybeer was a good bargain in a great location.

Not a safe place to stay
We stayed in a private room at Lybeer Travellers', hoping to avoid the need for a locker to protect our belongings. I tolerated the shower covered in black mold and being given no towels during our entire stay, but I cannot tolerate being stolen from. Someone entered our room the first morning we went into the city, not to give us clean towels, but rather to take the chunk of U.S. money I had left in my bag in the room. I know, it's not the best idea to leave money in the room, but that does not remove the fact that a member of their staff entered our room and stole from us and it does not excuse them. I assumed our belongings were somewhat safe considering we were supposedly the only key holders to the room. The hostel pretended to be concerned and said they would investigate, but our complaint was quickly forgotten. The staff were friendly, but don't be fooled by the facade. I urge travelers to avoid this hostel.

Perfect compliment to the city!
Lybeer's was a great find! An awesome place to chill when taking a breather from walking around this small but lovely city. The staff was one of the friendliest in Europe! Everybody was willing to give you any information and tips along with a friendly smile. The room we stayed in was bright and comfortable and the breakfast was really good. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to anyone.

Woderfully welcoming, I was greeted with a good beer and better people
The Lybeer is a really great hostel. It was the fourth hostel I had stayed in and it was by far the best! All of the staff is really nice, helpful, speak great English, and several speak multiple languages. The owners also opened a restaurant that's not particularly close to the hostel, but we made the walk (fifteen minutes or so) and it was well worth it. The food was tasty and plentiful and we even saw the bartender from the Lybeer eating dinner, so he made us some recommendations that worked out perfectly, thanks Kai! The relaxed atmosphere that the staff put out makes it much easier to meet people, and pretty much everyone we talked to at the lybeer were pleasant, good people from all around the world. Happy hour(s) with Kai were the best, I would definitely stay here again, for even longer than I did, which was two days, by the way. It's not a big party hostel or anything like that, it's still plenty quiet and a good place to get some rest, but also perfect for meeting new people and having a few good Belgian beers (and a Kriek or two).

Very good
ok it can be a little hard to find when you first arrive in Brugge but it's worth it. Very clean, bathrooms in the rooms (even dorms), and about five minutes' walk from the main squares and most sights. Brugge is a lovely little city and this is a great place to base yourself. Breakfast is very good -- plenty there, little bar on the ground floor is pretty chill and has cheap beer. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Happened to stay there when there was the Klinkers music festival on, every night for a month there are concerts in different locations each night, one night it was on the street outside the hostel, was great (finished about 10 p.m. for those afraid of losing sleep), excellent Belgian band playing (you've never heard Faithless until you hear it Belgian style!). I'd thoroughly recommend Lybeer and probably stay here again.

This was by far the best hostel/hotel of the 25 I've stayed in. It has an extremely friendly staff; Paul was the nicest hostel employee I've ever met. He told me about a really nice and cheap restaurant that was good and he was very easy to talk to. The breakfast made the deal really sweet. It was really nice and filling. The location is really good as it's close to everything. It's really quiet and peaceful and I will stay here next time I'm in beautiful Bruges.

We got a little lost trying to find the Hotel Lybeer, but it was probably due to the pouring rain and the dark. It has a great location (close to all things touristy, like the Chocolate Museum and the Diamond Museum) and a friendly staff. It seemed like one guy was running the show, but he does a great job!
