Backpackers in hell
In the two months traveling never have i come across such a disgraceful hostel. Cockroaches everywhere, woke up this morning to one looking at me on the side of my bed -- joy! Really dirty, bathroom was moulding -- lovely! Staff were pretty arrogant and did nothing to deal with the cockroach infestation. I urge you not to bother, such a crap experience! Pay $5 extra and go somewhere decent.

Needs Some Improvement
This place advertises as a party place, and it is a pretty social atmosphere. Although, with this perk comes some crap. The kitchen is way small, always crowded, and an absolute mess -- making it next to impossible to cook a decent meal. The room was below average. It was not very clean, the beds were uncomfortable and loud, and the shared bathroom was nasty. All in all the whole place could use a refurbishment. And the staff don't seem that cheerful either. There are better ones!

Average to Above Average
I stayed in four-bed dorm, and I absolutely no problems at this hostel. The bathroom and shower facilities were fine, the room was clean and fairly spacious. The hostel staff was friendly. Apparently it has recently come under new management. We had to put a deposit down for blankets (and they ran out), but every night there was some sort of outing that was organized for all the travelers. Overall, a pretty good stay.

I just want to start saying this is the best place I ever put my big, ugly foot in. To start with the personnel, the receptionist -- Kelly was the most professional worker i ever met. She controlled the place with an iron hand. The night guards was so professional that i could not believe they were not part of some special force, they were like lifeguards -- you felt safe when they were around. I remember specially one guy, his name was Bertus, he was like a tank! I mean the guy could kill a bear, i also think he did. The twenty-bedroom was one of the best rooms i ever had, the floor was so clean, the toilet were fresh and very good showers too, always warm water, and there was no bugs. The cleaners were really good, especially two of them, Todd and Sylvia -- they always had a happy face when they were supposed to do cleaning. The bar was first class, the TV room also -- even the outdoor couches were really comfortable. This was a five-star hostel.

This hostel was very poor -- we had bin liners in our showers I presume to hold it together and it was mouldy. One of my friends checked out straight away and stayed in a hotel as she was so disgusted!

Oh my god, do not go near this place. It was the most disgusting hostel that I have ever come across. The bedroom was filthy. Hadn't been hoovered in years I'd say. The toilet/shower, one of each for twelve people was disgusting. The smell of pee when you flushed the toilet was overwhelming, as if it was pee in the tank as opposed to fresh water. Cockroaches in room, ivy climbing up the wall between the skirting board and wall. Air con -- what's that? Two fans in the room. I got the height of abuse from Brazilian guy who was sleeping on the bottom bunk of my bed. He was a "security" guard for the hostel. Had his washing hanging off my bed. He brought a girl back to the room, I don't need to explain what was happening but my bed was shaking so I asked him to stop. He was not impressed and gave me the height of abuse, verbal and physical. I complained to the receptionist the next morning when we were checking out and I am still waiting for the manager to call! We wouldn't cook in the kitchen it was so dirty. Cannot believe that YHA are advertising this "hostel" as a four-star rating. It's a disgrace!

Do not stay in this hostel! I cannot stress this enough, this hostel is a complete kip. where to start, oh how about the deathtrap of a stairs which led to my room. let's just say one slip and if you make it you will be in some serious pain not to mention the fact that they are too steep and narrow to take a rucksack up! Then enter the hole which was my room, filthy dirty with ladderless bunkbeds which were actually just two single beds thrown on top of each other, no air con, oh and a flooded bathroom which was manky dirty. Oh but wait the real highlight was the staff's room which adjoined the room complete with a rude noisy girl. I would like to call her a few other things like her snotty friends called me when I went to take a shower and they wanted to use the bathroom. I stayed here for two nights (two nights too many), the staff came in and out of my room day and night slamming doors and blasting out music while darting me dirty looks -- not that I was worried! Just glad to get the hell out of there, couldn't believe it was a YHA hostel, anyway the moral of the story is do not stay in this hostel!

Well where do I start -- how about with the deadly stairs up to our room. One person can barely fit on them and they are highly dangerous. Once we got into our room, we realised there was no hint of air conditioning and the bathroom floor was flooded. One of the staff who lives in an adjoining room burst in very rudely without knocking and didnt even look at us! Then she stormed out again slamming the door behind her-very pleasant. This seems to be only a party hostel and I'm glad I'm only here for two nights

Don't stay here! This Hostel is awful. The rooms are filthy. There are beds in the kitchen area. The toilet/shower area with one toilet and one shower had to be shared by eight. We went here because we left it too late to book anywhere. We paid for three nights before we saw the room. Then when we saw the state of it we requested our money back. The rude guy at reception said they don't give money back. We finally got him to refund two nights but he refused to refund all three. He said we were welcome to stay for the night we had paid for and then leave. We left anyway with just two nights refunded and paid for an apartment (there was four of us so it was almost as cheap as a dorm anyway).

Oh My God! I've never been to such an awful place like this! Everything and I mean everything is dirty and filthy here! The kitchen is a total catastrophe and it opens too late and closes to early! The dorms are worse than a stinking toilet in a train station! There are rats running around and the showers cannot be used, due to the extreme dirt and the horrible smell. It seems the dorms are never cleaned! Never go to this place.

I havent been backpacking long and I still knew this place was sh*t. The mattress was ultra slim providing little or no comfort from the metal rod that divides the mattress in half. The place was filthy, no one cleaned up for themselves, and there were cockroaches everywhere. I am saying this even after I had been on staff (night security), where there is a curfew at twelve p.m. so you must go to bed. You're also not allowed to bring in alcohol, and purchases drinks from there rip off bar. The manager of the hostel was a complete asshole, after I told him I was leaving tomorrow, he threw me and my friends out on the street on Easter Sunday when there was a bed for me for the night, on Easter is surfers there wasn't another bed for me there either, so I had to sleep in the street.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOSTEL!!!!! This is the worst hostel we have stayed in in our 3 months travelling. We were told that we had a double with private bathroom but ended up in a flat shared with another couple. Upon check in our room was not ready so we had to leave our bags in the office. When we eventually got into our room and got into bed we discovered the whole bed was infested in bed bugs. Absolutely DISGUSTING. There was noone on site to check into a different room or any numbers to call so we had to check into a hotel. This hostel is dirty and minging-DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Me and my partner booked what we thought was a nice double room over New Years and it looked nothing like the one in the picture. I wish they would state which ones do, if any! The paint was peeling and crusty, all the room had was a bed and rickety old drawers. (Like the picture, right??? No.) Not to mention the cockroaches that were constantly in our room, and the gross, moldy bathroom shared with the adjoining room — that is what they call an "en suite"!!!. The cook was arrogant too, and a bit sexist! It was pretty hot and the curtains were just a few mangy pieces of bamboo so we basically had to string up towels to get a good night's sleep. We had a crappy little fan to cool the whole room, even though one of the windows was broken. Pretty awful really, the only good part is the pool and that's it. The door was broken and we got locked out and had to climb in the window. This is okay if all you want to do is get on the piss and crash out, otherwise it is filthy and I regret my time there. I didn't spend any time in the room, just in the pool. Thank God it was nice in there but that's all. Oh and the location was good, too. All their money must have gone into the Web site, ha ha.
