5  One night in paradise I only got to stay one night in surfers and loved it i had a flight to go to sydney so could not stay any longer. Backpackers in paradise was great, clean, friendly, and close to town and beach. i arrived expecting winter weather but it was 27 and sunny.  , australia ()
4  SURFERS ROCKS This hostel is in a good location, close to the beach, shops and all the bars and clubs. They have two happy hours at the bar every night so lots of cheap drinks. The rooms were clean and tidy. Good fun place to stay.  , australian ()
5  Great place I have been visiting the Gold Coast for a long time for my holidays as i live in Sydney and every time i have stayed in self contained apartments in Surfers Paradise. this time around i decided to check out the hostel accommodation and i was pleasantly surprised. i stayed in a four bed dorm for 5 days at backpackers in paradise and had a great time. i was traveling alone this time around and meet loads of cool people, had two irish lads in the room who dragged me out to party every night (good times). The hostel has a great bar, ask Markus the bar man for a few magic tricks. Hostel also has a cool movie room with a big screen and loads of films to choose from. Im glad i gave the hostel thing a try and would recommend backpackers in paradise to anyone.  , australian ()
5  GOOD TIMES Me and the lads have been traveling around oz for 2 months and spent 4 days in surfers and loved it good night life jump on the backpackers crawl we done it on a wednesday thinking it was going to to quiet but it went off. Hostel was good close to everything and clean room we stayed in a 4 bed dorm. There is a bar at the hostel so cant bring your own drink in we tried but got caught. bar was good tho cheep beers. All up would recommend surfers paradise to anyone and backpackers in paradise is the place to stay.  , england ()
5  One of the best! Backpackers in Paradise is quite possibly one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The staff were great, rooms were clean, and the location of the hostel was awesome! Backpackers in Paradise has their own bar, so you can't bring your own alcohol but the drinks are so cheap there is no need to bring in your own! Backpackers in Paradise is a must for anyone looking at staying in Surfers!  , Canadian ()
1  I've been there with my girlfriend and I've to confess is not the best place if you want have a good and romantic time, believe in me, your girlfriend will complain about the cleanliness. But if you are going by your own or with friends, have fun! I'm sure you will have other priorities in your mind. Even because it's a cheap hostel.  , Brazilian ()
1  Avoid at all costs There are better, cheap places than this, use them. I was there for a week with over a hundred friends. With the entire hostel booked, the staff were still psudo-nazis -- rude, bullying, sticklers for the most pathetic rules, and very unaccommodating. The facilities are outdated, dirty, and severely need reporting. The air-con is nonexistent, the kitchen is too small, unclean, and does not provide adequate cooking utensils. Be warned, there is a twenty-man room, that they won't tell you about. To summarise, it is not the place to be when staying at Surfers Paradise. Spend the extra $50 and stay at a resort! Finally, be aware you cannot consumer your own alcohol on premises.  , Australian ()
1  Where do I start. the staff are very rude, not helpful, always in a bad mood, and they eat the food of the backpackers. the rooms are not, not cleaned for ages and the beds are there since the Australia was discovered. you're not allowed to drink your own drinks. kitchen was too small and only three pans for twenty-four dorms. Altogether a very crappy sh*t place for too much money. never go there unless you are looking for bad places and throw away your money.  , The Netherlands ()
1  Disgusting! This is the most disgusting hostel I have ever stayed at! The four-bed dorm I stayed in was mouldy and dirty. There were cockroaches on the floor, coming out from under the walls, which were crumbled by mould. The shared bathroom facilities were awful too. Dirty water was leaking into the dorm from the bathroom. I wouldn't stay at this hostel again, even if they paid me to sleep there! Stay away from Backpackers In Paradise  , Norwegian ()
1  Backpackers in hell In the two months traveling never have i come across such a disgraceful hostel. Cockroaches everywhere, woke up this morning to one looking at me on the side of my bed -- joy! Really dirty, bathroom was moulding -- lovely! Staff were pretty arrogant and did nothing to deal with the cockroach infestation. I urge you not to bother, such a crap experience! Pay $5 extra and go somewhere decent.  , Great Britain ()
2  Needs Some Improvement This place advertises as a party place, and it is a pretty social atmosphere. Although, with this perk comes some crap. The kitchen is way small, always crowded, and an absolute mess -- making it next to impossible to cook a decent meal. The room was below average. It was not very clean, the beds were uncomfortable and loud, and the shared bathroom was nasty. All in all the whole place could use a refurbishment. And the staff don't seem that cheerful either. There are better ones!  , Canada ()
3  Average to Above Average I stayed in four-bed dorm, and I absolutely no problems at this hostel. The bathroom and shower facilities were fine, the room was clean and fairly spacious. The hostel staff was friendly. Apparently it has recently come under new management. We had to put a deposit down for blankets (and they ran out), but every night there was some sort of outing that was organized for all the travelers. Overall, a pretty good stay.  , Canada ()
5  I just want to start saying this is the best place I ever put my big, ugly foot in. To start with the personnel, the receptionist -- Kelly was the most professional worker i ever met. She controlled the place with an iron hand. The night guards was so professional that i could not believe they were not part of some special force, they were like lifeguards -- you felt safe when they were around. I remember specially one guy, his name was Bertus, he was like a tank! I mean the guy could kill a bear, i also think he did. The twenty-bedroom was one of the best rooms i ever had, the floor was so clean, the toilet were fresh and very good showers too, always warm water, and there was no bugs. The cleaners were really good, especially two of them, Todd and Sylvia -- they always had a happy face when they were supposed to do cleaning. The bar was first class, the TV room also -- even the outdoor couches were really comfortable. This was a five-star hostel.  , SWEDEN ()
1  This hostel was very poor -- we had bin liners in our showers I presume to hold it together and it was mouldy. One of my friends checked out straight away and stayed in a hotel as she was so disgusted!  , uk ()
1  Oh my god, do not go near this place. It was the most disgusting hostel that I have ever come across. The bedroom was filthy. Hadn't been hoovered in years I'd say. The toilet/shower, one of each for twelve people was disgusting. The smell of pee when you flushed the toilet was overwhelming, as if it was pee in the tank as opposed to fresh water. Cockroaches in room, ivy climbing up the wall between the skirting board and wall. Air con -- what's that? Two fans in the room. I got the height of abuse from Brazilian guy who was sleeping on the bottom bunk of my bed. He was a "security" guard for the hostel. Had his washing hanging off my bed. He brought a girl back to the room, I don't need to explain what was happening but my bed was shaking so I asked him to stop. He was not impressed and gave me the height of abuse, verbal and physical. I complained to the receptionist the next morning when we were checking out and I am still waiting for the manager to call! We wouldn't cook in the kitchen it was so dirty. Cannot believe that YHA are advertising this "hostel" as a four-star rating. It's a disgrace!  ()
