Frasers on Rainbow primarily exists to serve backpackers travelling to Fraser Island via Rainbow Beach. The beach itself is beautiful, and only a 10 minute walk away. All of the amenities are a short walk away, including a supermarket, news agent, bakery, butcher shop, bottle shop, eateries, and the local pub.
The atmosphere is friendly, however, the Fraser Island travellers tend to stick together in their respective safari groups. A lounge area plays music videos throughout the day and the hostel has its own in-house bar. The management could lighten up a little, but this is easily overlooked. All in all, Frasers is a functional hostel that has relatively clean rooms, good kitchen facilities, a small pool, pool tables, and internet access.
(Tip: For those contemplating a Fraser Island safari, it should be noted that Rainbow Beach is a 2 hour drive from Hervey Bay, the other main departure point for Fraser Island. Most travellers believe that the two points are very close together.)
