I spent a grand total of two months at the reef, I picked rock Melons by day, bartended at the beloved Denison by night, and had plenty of time to Jam on my guitar by the beach across the street and meet cool people from all over. Mike and the crew are good people but if youre lazy or all you do is drink your face off your stay will be short, but if you are there to actually make money to keep traveling, play your cards right and you'll walk with a lot of money in a little amount of time. Lots of work to be had, good weather and good people.

the hotel was great good people. but mike is a total pain in the arsh. there was not a day that went past he would moan about something and most of the time it was about nothing -- get him out! nice, clean hostel -- lovely place. it felt like home but mike just spoiled it. but dont worry everyone, some people bought it over -- he will be out soon.

spent twelve days at reefers, with no work. everyday the staff would tell you it should start in a couple of days, a complete joke. way overpriced for dorms, not the price stated on the website. To top it off the hostel has some of the most anal rules in the world. Your belongings and goods will be taken by staff if left only for a moment, which you can go and collect in only the few hours reception is open a day. whilst staying only one of the eight people in our apartment got more than two days work.

Hi everyone at Reefers. I'm home in England now, still with Jamie. We are living together in London all loved up still, and to think we only started dating at Reefers. We had a ball there. It's a wicked place to do fruit picking. I loved it, it was hard work but worth the experience. I hope all you staff are ok and Mike, I hope you're still pestering the backpackers for fags. And Stephen and Suzanne, who's cutting your hair now I've gone? I miss Oz loads. I wish I were still at Prices, packing beans. And just to let you know, if you remember Nichola and Rachel that worked at Prices, we are still good friends and see each other all the time. And we only met them at Reefers as well. I hope this puts a smile on all your faces. Best wishes guys.

I stayed at this hostel back in 1995!! It was called Trinities back then and it was a blast! There was always a huge amount of good paying work in the area as well. The deserted beaches surrounding the place are fantastic as well.

Well, I stayed here for around three weeks and found the hostel's facilities fabulous!! Work was a little bit iffy here and there, but I met some fantabulous people!! The people you meet here will be your friends for life. Thank you to Stephan (the toothpaste advert guy) and Suzanne for your hospitality, and to the reception lady — sorry I can't remember your name but you were very cool, too. Keep up the good work. Ps: Stephan, I hope you liked Thailand!

We stayed in Reefers one month and had a really great time there with a party every night!!! It was not that busy at that time but we met such nice people, and we miss Leanne and Mikel!! The pool is cool!!! :))) Thanks for the great time.

Nearly everyone was Japanese when I was here, and there wasn't much opportunity to socialize. But it's a workers' hostel and the facilities are good enough. The new management is friendly and helpful and they get you jobs quickly. They do bus runs to work and into town at night so you can do your shopping or get videos out. The pool is nice but freezing, the rooms are smallish but clean, the kitchens are pretty good, and you're split up into apartments. Bowen is SO boring though.

There is plenty of work in Bowen at the moment, but I was told the season ends around November or December, and starts again around April or May. I stayed at Reefers for two weeks and had work all the time. The first job they gave me was tomato picking, and I was paid by the bucket. Avoid contract work if at all possible; it's hard to make money. I told them I wanted a new job and they gave me one the next day. In that job I was paid by the hour. This hostel is very busy and quite loud, and there are not enough bathrooms and showers, when you consider it's a working hostel. The cost is $120 a week if you pay weekly and $22 a night if you don't. There's a bus to and from work but you have to pay $5 a day to use the bus. The majority of people staying here seemed to be really young Germans. Altogether my stay here was good. I made a good bit of money in two weeks, the facilities are good, there's a pool, the kitchens are clean, there's a TV room, and the staff are really nice and friendly and very helpful.

This hostel is front of the beach. Everyone say "It's a very clean hostel." I stayed here for three months! I made lots of friends here. I really enjoyed my time. You can get a job, and the bus picks you up from the farm. I recommend this hostel. You should come here if you are looking for a job.

This is the best place I've ever stayed at. It's in a beautiful spot, and the hostel has a great atmosphere. The managers are really friendly and helpful. They organised work for me the day I arrived, and I have made lots of friends here. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone.

It's not called Trinity's anymore; it's called Reefers. I stayed two months and had work all the time. You can make a packet - the owners drive you to the farm, they get you a job, and then drive you back again. Top spot.

This hostel is tops. It has changed its name to Reefers by the Beach, and is under new management, appparently. They get you a job (bloody tomatoes) but it pays well, and they bus you out to the farm. I really enjoyed my time here and made heaps of moolah. The rooms are clean, and the place really hums along. The pool after work is a cracker.
