I stayed at this hostel from November 1998 till February 1999. Having travelled all over Australia, I can say that this is the second best hostel I've been. Hazel en Kaye were so friendly. I really enjoyed my time at The Savoy. It's nice to hear the place is still in business.

I stayed at The Savoy for a total of seven weeks and let me tell you -- it was amazing. Now that I am back in chilly Canada, I look back to my time in Tully and at The Savoy with extreme fondness. I made some good friends there, and I will never forget it! On top of having the best staff of any hostel I ever stayed at, the rooms are the cleanest. The kitchen, bathrooms and common rooms are cleaned twice daily, so it really makes you feel relaxed. The atmosphere was so lovely all the time. I can't tell you the feeling of laying in the pool on a hot day on the weekend. Aaaah, so relaxing. Anyway, I'd give The Savoy and its staff a rating a of "mind-blowingly excellent" if I could, but I'll settle for five stars!

The Savoy - just brilliant! During my Australia trip I stayed 6 weeks in this beautiful and friendly hostel. But that wasn't enough, so I decided to go back for another 6 weeks. It was always hard to leave 'cause I made the best friends there and I really met nice people. And Jude and Kaye (I wouldn't call them "staff", rather the "Mamas and the Papas" of The Savoy) are running the best hostel in Oz. Tully is very small but lovely. I really miss it and I'm sure I'll be back. Anytime! I'm looking forward to see the renovated hostel! And all the lovely people.

Wow!!! I had such a wicked time at the Savoy!! The friends I made there will be friends for life. We were like an ickle family! Turely, when I first got there I was really shocked because I'd been livin it up for so long and Tully is such a small place. I think what made me feel trapped was because I had to stay there because I'd totally run out of money and needed to do three months work so I could extend my visa to stay in Oz for another year. Before I knew it I realised that I was surrounded by amazing people. I really did fall in love with everyone I lived with there- including the hostel owner (jude) and worker (Kay). The time i had at the Savoy helped me realise so much about my personality and I really believe it has changed my outlook. I found it really difficult to leave and even though i have completed my three months work (for the visa extention) I have already contacted them about my return. I highly recommend this hostel it is ace!!

I had to pop in to see the place as our daughter Dawn Smith had stayed here during February through to May 2004. She worked her socks off and had little money, laughed, cried, got drunk, fell off the back of a truck, and all in all had the time of her life. I had to see the place. Oh to be young again! I know where I would be right now.

What can I say about Tully? Upon arrival you feel a bit unsure. What are you letting yourselves in for? We arrived with three dreaded weeks of bananas ahead of us. We left six weeks later with the best friends, the best memories and a full bank account!! It really is the best place to pick fruit and I've picked a lot. I had my birthday here and it was the best day — thanks to all of you for making it so special. We worked on Pete's farm, planting and watering pumpkins, and de-leafing bananas, which actually turned out to be great laugh. Then there are the weekends, Wet Wednesdays (the hostel staff will never forget), and the roof. Remembering everything just makes me smile. You must go here!! Lots of love to the Tully crew. I miss you, and thanks for the greatest times. And thanks to the Savoy and Tully for bringing us all together, making it hard for any of us to leave. We just couldn't drag ourselves away!!

Believe me, I spent nine months of my time in Australia picking fruit all around the country, but Tully was by far the best place to pick. We were planning on staying two weeks here and ended up staying six. We worked on Pete's farm (which was by far the best) de-leafing and sorting bananas and planting pumpkins. Then we watered the seeds, driving tractors up and down the paddock. Work was fun - but wet Wednesdays in the top pub with the locals and Thursday karaoke rocked. Seriously, I got drunk on one jug! With the right people the Savoy is mental. Weekends up in the roof with the lads and hangovers in the movie room. Big love out to all the Tully crew of August 2004 - you know who you are!! Remember Laura's party - and the nights thrown in the pool - hangovers every Thursday morning! If you ever go to Tully, check out the polar bear in the community room and our pictures of us in the paddock and the ESSEX GIRLS RULES tag that we left on the wall. What can I say — those were the best times ever. I miss you, Tully!!!

The hostel itself was pretty much all right (clean toilets, good kitchen, nice pool) but the fact that the hostel is in Tully makes the ranking much more complicated! The so-called "city" is so small that you go to the supermarket more than twice a day (although you're working until 4 o'clock). The cleaning lady is really friendly. Also, special greetings to Jo and the Palmers.

Oh my god, what a wicked working hostel. I came to work for 3 weeks and ended up staying 5 months. It was my home away from home. The staff were the friendliest hostel staff I came across in my 11 months travelling. The pool was lush, kitchen and bathrooms immaculate and the rooms small and clean. Although the work was pretty boring (but easy) there were always friendly faces to greet you as you got home. The town is small but so much fun. You must go to karaoke at the Top Pub on a Thursday and to Rafters Nightclub on Fridays, then enjoy a dip in the pool on a Saturday night. Overall, I would rate this hostel 10 out of 10.
