This place should NOT be listed as backpacker accommodation.
Most people here are staying on a more permanent basis, and it felt like a half-way house for people with psychiatric illnesses.
We left after one night's stay. We were locked out that night, and had to climb over the balcony to get in. The person in the neighbouring room kept all the tenants awake playing music from about 6am REALLY REALLY LOUD. We were then honoured with a wake-up call by a girl who was clearly psychotic (no exagerations unfortunately!!) hurling abuse at us for staying in her room and bed. This lasted for about an hour. She then passed out in our doorway. At which stage we thought it safe to unlock the door and leave, at just after 10 am.
We tried to negotiate with the owner to get a refund. She never once apologised and forever made excuses about how it was someone else's fault and that she had to keep cleaning before she would return our key deposit, expecting us to wait another 2 hours. We were offered a refund for the second night we booked for and didn't stay, only the following morning, after we told her we'd return later for the key deposit and report the place to the RTA. Most of the other tenants were also extremely distressed but weren't in a position to stand up for themselves.
Until it changes management, don't stay here!! — Anon (2006-01-08)
This place was absolutely dreadful. The staff are a little strange to say the least, shouting and screaming at each other. There was a dogfight in the corridor when the owner's two dogs gripped each other's faces with their teeth.
The soap and washing-up liquid are watered down to one part soap, ten thousand parts water. The kitchen equipment was old and rusty, the laundry was in a shed, the dryer didn't work and the washing line was always full of the owner's clothing. The locks on the toilets didn't always work either, as did the pay phone.
It's a horrible place that I escaped from early one morning with no intention of ever going back to. Plus it's really expensive. — Joanne (2005-07-20)

It is awesome. — Anonymous (2004-12-30)

Tuscany House is a truly wonderful place. It has luxury for the price, and it's serviced by dedicated caretakers. Come for the roof, stay for the comfort. — Daniel (2004-10-23)

It was clean and friendly. — Anonymous (2004-04-28)
