Crazy!!! the place was good and the work was good, i was there in 2005 when the owners were hugh and jan, they are the strangest people you will ever meet! hugh was a loud mouth who threatened to kick me out of oz because i was late for the work mini-bus!!! Jan was nice but drunk all the time. but the work was good and saved lots of money. the actual hostel was very nice, from what iv heard from friends it a much better place to be now than it was then. — Anonymous , english (2010-09-21) Awesome!! Laidley itself is a hell hole with naff all to do which is good if you wanna save money. But Annette is bloody marvelous! She will get you work no problem when the season is up & running, the most Relaxed Landlady ever, dead friendly, & always joins us for drinks & giggles. The hostel isn't the cleanest but thats the backpackers fault, not annettes, the only rule she has is "You use it, you clean it" meaning the dishes & the kitchen. Bathrooms are quite clean as there is always a backpacker on cleaning duty like myself & my boyfriend, I hoover the hostel every 2 days & he cleans the kitchen every night at 9pm, yes we get rewarded as Annette is very fair. This is also coming from a quite high maintenance couple ha ha. There's usually lots of fun on the weekend! I would come back here! — Nay & Kay UK , UK (2010-04-17) Great! Hugh and Janice although often drunk were great people and really friendly. they even let us off rent and gave us money for food when work was a little short. plus although the stoves were turned off at 9 p.m. (because they didnt want people gassing the place when drunk), the microwaves were still on and they never ever moaned about us being drunk and loud unless we were disturbing people trying to work. I was there in 2006 and they had cable. The work was limited! No privacy -- rooms were searched when you were at work with no permission asked at all! The kitchen was useless -- no cooker, just stoves and they were turned off at 9 p.m.!
