Terrible experience
Needing a last minute place to stay, we walked in and paid $80 up front. The room was dirty, used towels in the shower, and gritty floor. We chose not to stay and returned to the desk for a refund, having been in the room for less than five minutes. We were refused the refund, were told that they didn't want "people like us" staying there anyway, and then they accused of using the bathroom (we certainly did not -- yecchh). Rude, insulting, and nasty owner/managers and definitely not clean.

Crap. Shoe box size room. Overpriced. Poor Customer Service. Rude.
Not highly recommended. Will not stay there ever again. Lady cleaning the room was rude and arrogant. Room was tiny for $75 a night, bit overpriced with no guest amenities and no weekly service, stayed two nights, sheets were soiled and they weren't changed, had to sleep in it until check out day. Too many rules and regulations, you pay $75 for the bed basically. Better to stay at a hotel/motel/resort. This place is more like a backpacker hostel than a motel.

bob and sonya were the best hosts a backpacker could want. the place was clean, pleasant, quiet (most of the time), warm and clean pools, with lots of friendly atmosphere. within ten minutes' walk of the water. downtown has enough to keep anyone entertained. in all the months i was in aus, my time at coolum is what i remember. i felt as close to home as a person so far away from home could feel. watch out for sonya's thai cooking though if you have a soft stomach. yeah, i give coolum beach hostel a full thumbs up, man.
