Hostelz.com's Review
Asok Montri Hostel is a very homey hostel that will attract people looking for a bit more comfort. It's definitely not a party hostel, and you'll probably find that the crowed is a little older than the standard Thailand backpacker, too.

The Location

This hostel is just two minutes from linked Sukhumvit underground and Asok Skytrain stations. When you exit these you'll see a busy four-way junction with a large Citibank on one of the corners. You'll want to walk away from this whilst keeping the skyline on your left all the time -- you should now be walking down Sukhumvit Road, after a hundred meters, you should reach the Westin Hostel. Turn right here and carry on for fifty meters -- just after the two massage parlors on your right, you'll see a small alley. Head down here and you'll find the hostel on your left, ten meters away.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are clean and spacious with large bunk beds that are quite hard. Each bed comes with its own reading light and power socket and there's lockers large enough for your whole bag. Privates are to a similar standard and there's air conditioners in all the rooms. Bathrooms are located on each floor and there's more than enough hot showers for everyone, so there's never a problem queuing. As mentioned, this is quite a homey hostel, so its kept very clean and tidy. The only negative is that the Wi-Fi is only just strong enough to reach the top floors where the dorms are.

Common Spaces

The common area on the ground floor is split into two -- one side has a couple of large comfy sofas, a flat-screen TV, and a selection of films, perfect for chilling out; the other side is a bright open dining/working area with a PC, large pine table, fridge, kettle, and toaster. You'll often see people in these areas and it's intimate enough to get chatting away with them easily. The building is very secure throughout -- all guests are supplied with keys for their rooms as well as the main door and the gate outside. You will be asked for a deposit for these. Drinking water is free and breakfast (jam on toast and tea/coffee) is included.

Summary

This is a chilled-out hostel with more of a sophisticated feel as compared to others -- it's very unlikely that you will have to put up with loud, drunken backpackers here. Instead, you will find people who are after a comfy, quiet environment that still has the social side of a hostel.
