Considering that this was a hostel, I wasn't expecting wonderful accommodations. I most certainly didn't get them. I stayed there in May of 2007. The cleanest thing in the hostel was the bathroom floors, because each guest that showers there is expected to squeegee the water in the direction of the floor drain. Sandpaper is softer than the towel I was given. The manager is as shifty as the touts that hassle you downstairs. We had to book another night with him, at an increased price, to get him to hold our baggage for the day before leaving on the night train to Luxor. If you don't book any tours through him, he cannot even be bothered to replace your roll of toilet paper, which you have to carry to and from the bathroom with you. The complimentary breakfast was forty-five minutes late. The only kind thing that I can say about this establishment is that when the management finally turns your air conditioning on it works great.

One of the cheapest hostels in Cairo! I was surprised by the big and spotless rooms. The staff is very nice, helpful, and reliable. If you are looking for a cheap, well located hostel in Cairo, go to the Lialy. If I ever go back to Cairo, i will go back to the Lialy.

You'd think Lialy was terrible. I whole-heartedly disagree. The owner has been nothing but courteous and very very helpful, same goes for the staff. Comfortable clean rooms and reliable showers make a stay here a rather pleasant one. Excellent location too. Highly recommended.

After staying in this hotel for less than a week, it is very obvious that the owner chases foreign women. The staff are definitely abusers and they will you rip you off as much as they can. The only good thing about it is that it's located downtown. I assume many hostels are, too.

I've been here twice. One time was a little bad because the beds are really hard and have old mattresses. The other year the prices went up to 35 pounds per dorm bed instead of the 25 pounds before. But Mustafa and Mohammed were really helpful with pointing out some things in Cairo to me. When the dorm is not so crowded, it's a good place to stay for low budget. Greetings from The Netherlands.

I stayed at this hostel for only one night, because the rooms were so bad. It's not a good place to stay at all.

The price of the tours here was much more than I was told. And the owner tried telling me he was from Canada, which is a LIE. His accent gives that away.

Mustafa was a real sleazeball! This guy booked a tour that was overpriced, and the room was more expensive than was booked; they were just generally a dishonest bunch.

We stayed at this hostel for a total of 4 nights. We found the place really good, with very friendly, helpful staff. The place is a bit noisy, but I think that is to be expected in the center of Cairo. We only have good things to say about this hostel.

I visited this hotel and I only stayed there for five hours -- the environment is not comfortable, they abuse people, and they booked me a trip with triple price. While the place is clean, it is also noisy.

I stayed in this hostel for two nights and it was a negative experience. The price of the room was almost 50 percent higher than advertised through the booking website, and a single room, which I had booked, wasn't initially available. Worse, the owner/manager was a little bit too friendly to me (a woman travelling alone), which made me feel very uncomfortable. Finally, the tour to the Pyramids that I booked through the hostel was very over-priced, as I discovered later. The hostel is also not able to sell you an ISIC card, even if it's mentioned on the website. The location is good, though, and the hostel is clean.
