Stay away, poorly ran and unfrieldly staff The rules are very strict here, plus u have to pay a 200 dollar bond. Gerry the manager is always in a bad mood and alway make up excuses. I got bedbugs here and gerry tried to say there were sandfly bites, and i knew they were bedbugs, he did nothing about it so i changed room and the other person in my room got them and he said the same thing to them. There was 2 showers for 40 people and half of the time the other one was not going. And the ladies that cleans the place and stays there is a real bitch, and i thinks she takes people food, cause everyone had food go missing but here!!!!!! Its on a main road and hard to sleep at night and u get woken up at 4am. I recommend that u stay away from this place, its the worst back packers ive stayed in!! and ive stay in about 20 odd in aussie. stay away. — Anonymous , New Zealand (2010-12-31) Sh*thole Rats, bedbugs, fleas, holes on the side of of the kitchen with rats and mice free to run into them, smelly fridges, the apparent manager/caretaker Gerry is a joyless douchebag who likes to enforce strict rules that completely kills any good atmosphere in the place. overall the place is a total sh*thole, stay clear!
There are other good hostels with good staff in the area. — Arnold , Irish (2009-07-09) Don't go there When I first arrived I thought maybe I am over staying in backpackers as I was shocked by the place, but once I moved hostels I knew it's just not a good place. the rooms are tiny, there is no space for your luggage, almost no light in the rooms, there is only one bathroom for the entire downstairs that's cold and run down, the staff is super unfriendly (apart from Gerry the caretaker, he is very nice), everything is old and rundown, the kitchen is filthy and poorly equipped.
Rules are very strict and you feel like you are fourteen again. Plus you are located on a large street. — backpacker , Australia (2007-06-22)
