When we first arrived, the place didn't look like much but once you get to know the owner you're sold! We spend Christmas here and I must say that it has made a huge difference in the way we spend Christmas today! They've invited us to join them at their Christmas meal as if we were family and we will never forget this! The guys that are living and staying at the Karratha Backpackers are very special and beautiful people. We wish them all the best and we hope that they have recovered from the cyclone that hit Karratha just days after we left. — Ingrid and Edwin Bos (2006-12-22) Great backpackers with a wicked atmosphere. Although Karratha isn't the most exciting place the backpackers is always buzzing and heaps is always happening and going on. Gonzo (owner) is great and always having tours, fishing and boat trips. Highly recommended!! — Nat (2005-10-11) Well, the facilities are pretty standard, and the rooms are nothing exceptional. However, the staff, and the attitude of the people there, are outstanding. There are heaps of things to do, including fishing charters on their very own boat. The spoils of which become FREE FISH FRIDAY! It's a great crew in a beautiful part of the world.
