Real down to earth people with noble quality in my short time/stay it was a big mixed group of hard working travelers staying at the hostel. i even found a short term job in Kal. made my money and left, now as for the night skies well wow it is nice after a day out to absorb the tranquil night sky and have a light beer or two. the BBQs are good also. swimming pool is great and the staff are very knowledgeable of what to do and where to go in kal. — the mexican from melbourne , aussie (2009-08-29)

Gold Dust is the best place to stay in Kal by a country mile if you are back packing, and / or looking to get work on one of the many mining or drilling companies in and around Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
I stayed here for over 3 weeks on and off in April/ May during my 3 month employment on a drilling rig, and had a great time.
Liz is a first class manager (and stand-in mother !!). She will even try her hardest to get you work if she can.
The place is clean, has decent internet access, a pool table, a video room, a lounge/ tv area, pool and accommodating kitchen. Its also located 2 minutes from the heart of Kal's shopping cnetre and night life.
The people staying there are usually a mix of varied international backpackers, and regular's, and making friends was pretty easy.
A great hostel, one of the best you'll find in WA in my opinion. — Tom Scally (England) (2006-01-29)
