The Hostelz.com Review
Soul Hostel is a uniquely small hostel with only eighteen beds, which allows you to easily get to know the other people staying in the hostel. The hostel looks like someone's apartment, which gives it a very relaxed and chilled atmosphere. On top of this it is in a good location in a quiet area of downtown Krakow, only ten minutes' walk from the centre. The hostel also organises tours to Auschwitz which are very worthwhile. You will save a little bit of money if you organise the trip yourself as there are regular buses, but it is worth going with the hostel to avoid the extra hassle.
The Location
The hostel is only ten minutes' walk from the train station and the central square of Krakow. It is in the perfect location for getting to know Krakow but quiet enough to be a great retreat for when you need to rest. There is a large supermarket only five minutes away in the Krakow Gallery, which has plenty of other shops to keep you going.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean, and reasonably spacious. The beds are some of the most comfortable we have found in a hostel. The rooms do not have locks on them but there is a twenty-four-hour reception, which makes sure that only guests enter the hostel. There are also free lockers in the room.
The bathrooms are fantastic with excellent showers with great control and power. There is also a bath in one of the bathrooms. The only slight problem is that there are only two, so be prepared for a short wait.
Common Spaces
There is a common kitchen/lounge area, which is very spacious considering the size of the hostel. The lounge has very comfy sofas, a TV, play station, and vinyl record player with a set of soul records. There is free Wi-Fi and a laptop, which anyone can use for free. The kitchen is very well stocked with a fantastic free food cupboard. It even has an oven, which not many places seem to have. All the equipment is very modern. There is a washing machine which is free to use -- if you happen to be busy when it finishes, the staff will even hang it up to dry for you!
Summary
Soul Hostel feels more like a second home than just a place to spend the night. The staff are attentive and friendly and everything is comfortable and modern. The price is amazingly cheap and it is in a peaceful but fairly central location. We cannot recommend this hostel enough!

Good small hostel Good hostel about 5 min walk from railway station; supermarkets nearby. Communal area seems larger on pics than it is as kitchen & lounge are combined and only like 4 x 4 m square. Dorms were good although traffic noise from street does come in somewhat. Good security. On my 2nd day cleanliness could be better. Bathrooms hadn't been cleaned/towels changed and with a full hostel were getting quite dirty. 1st day this was not an issue, so maybe just unlucky? — Anonymous , NL (2011-10-29)
