Description
Pelican Sands is on the river and beachfront in Scamander, which is the most central town in the Break O'Day Municipality, so named because it is the first in Tasmania to see the sunrise, and they are spectacular.
Our backpackers is dorm style only, but we have holiday units also which are 1 and 2 room units whisch sleep from 1 to 8.
We have BBQ's, swiming pool, kayack's and fishing equipment for hire. We are licensed for our guests and have a range of beer's and wines available from reception. The Post office is only a 5 minute walk away with internet access, bus terminus and the best hamburgers on the coast, all from the one shop.
We are very centrally located to visit the Nation Parks, with Mt. William, Ben Lomond Douglas Apsley and Freycinet all within an hours drive of Scamander.
Our beaches are deserted and run for miles in either direction, and a safe to walk swim fish and surf, you can just laze around and count the Pelicans or watch for dolphins and whales swimming up and down the coast. The sands in front of our complex abound with sea birds, as well as the Pelicans which gave us our name.
The hosts Jane & Vic are friendly and very easy going, love to chat and can help with detailed information on the area and the Island as a whole.
Come and visit us and we will do our best to make your stay a happy one.
For those on a budget, there is fruit picking work available in season at the nearby Eureka farm which also serves prize winning Ice cream and smoothies, and wonderful berries cakes and snacks.
