The Hostelz.com Review
Hostel Postel is located on an alleyway just off one of the main bridges in the Old Town Square. When you walk through the gate at Hostel Postel you are greeted with a courtyard that makes you feel immediately at home. The reception desk isn't manned at all hours so be sure to let them know when you are going to arrive and leave (if you leave your bags with them at check-out).
The Location
It's a short, five-minute walk across the bridge and you are back into the old town center where you can shop, eat, and admire the beautiful town. There is a very state-of-the-art tourist office where you can store your bags as well as a discount grocery store within ten minutes of the hostel. When you check in, be sure to flip through their information book, available in several languages, before you head out. The book gives you several new ideas on things to see and places to go. The staff are also very friendly and helpful when you are trying to maximize your stay.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Hostel Postel offers several room styles, including dorm rooms, and they are broken down into two separate cottages. Each cottage has one community shower room (there are curtains in front of the shower but no dressing space), and there is rarely a wait for either. The larger cottage has a separate girls and boys room and the small shares one large bathroom. The beds have good mattresses, giving you a much needed good nights rest, linens provided.
Common Spaces
Their key system allows you to come and go as you please with access to the kitchen and courtyard at any time. They have a computer available in the reception area but don't count on using it at your convenience since the office is not staffed around the clock. The kitchen offers a stove, microwave, fridge, and cooking utensils.
Summary
Hostel Postel is a must-stay during your trip to Český Krumlov. They've won several awards from other hostel websites and for a good reason -- the hostel loses none of the small-town, Czech feel that greets you when you walk into town.

For me this is still the best hostel I ever been to. Nice, clean, quiet...it's a dream. — Pino (2005-03-03)
Although they confirmed our reservation via e-mail, when we showed up they had in fact given away our room. We not only told them that we might be late, but we called when we knew that we would be late, and by then they had already cancelled our reservation. They proceeded to book us across the street in someone's attic. While they offered to send a cab to pick us up from the train station and pay for it, there was no cab, and so we had to pay for it ourselves. When we went to discuss this with the owner/manager she indeed gave us most of our deposit back and paid for the cab. This was furthermore a frustrating experience because calls cannot be made from Austria to the Czech Republic. The patio seems nice, and the halls and bathrooms are clean, though small. — Ann (2004-09-05)

Five stars for the rooms, the atmosphere, and of course for Gabi, the ever smiling hostess! — Andi (2003-09-10)

This is a great hostel--very quiet and clean. Great shower facilities and clean bathrooms--always good when on the road. Location is good, and we had no problems arranging lodging here when we were in Cesky Krumlov on several occassions. Encountered diverse groups of people here who were very cool. The price here is very fair. — Eric Karn (2003-08-12)
