3  Fraser Escape is the perfect access route to Fraser Island, one of the things to do whilst traveling down the east coast of Oz. We were here in December 2004 for a total of two nights (one before and one after visiting the island). At the time it cost AUS$9 to stay per night (less than £4), so it was ridiculously cheap but you sure didn't get a lot for your money. We stayed in one of the caravan-cum-chalets and it was basic to the extreme but we still slept well enough. Our trip over to Fraser Island was well organised by the hostel and everything went to plan. The main town of Hervey Bay and Torquay Beach are only short walks away, the hostel had internet access and there was a café right next door for cheap food. The party we had in the hostel bar once we got back from Fraser was brilliant and there is a good atmosphere to the place. One word of warning though -- don't hang your clothes out to dry outside as we were told by a member of staff that "things have a habit of disappearing!"  ()
