4 Lovely, self-contained apartment.
We stayed here for three nights in total in August 2008. We originally wanted to book a double room, but were informed that you can only book doubles the night before you want to stay. This was not ideal, so we booked ourselves into the three-share room of the self-contained apartments, then moved to the double on the second night. Staff were ok, however a bit pushy on the $30 pub crawl. Good facilities, we had our own apartment, with balcony and nice view. Also, a Playstation 3, bar, ping pong, sauna, and gym. The only downside to our stay was the construction happening in our building. Constant drilling from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Made it a bit unbearable during the day (but the work looks like it will make great new apartments!) Just a shame about the noise. Bit of a walk into town, about fifteen minutes. Nice beach walk though, or through the streets. They do a free bus, but it's nicer to walk in our opinion!

3 Reasonable hostel
Fairly good hostel. Room and kitchen facilities are a bit average but acceptable and fairly clean. When the sun goes down it's a bit more of a party hostel and I was looking more for a good night's sleep but music wasn't too loud. It does, however, have a pool, weights machine, tennis, and table tennis court.

5 I loved this hostel and Surfers. My friends and I booked in initially for three nights and altogether ended up staying five months. Had lots of brilliant times there that I'll never forget.

1 Well what can I say about this hostel. For starters I can say during the day it looks like an awesome place to stay, but as soon as the darkness hits lots of interesting things start to appear. When we were ready to hit the hay, our room and beds were literally filled with big and little cockroaches. Yeah I know. The raid that they provided in the room didn't even help one bit. It became so unbearable that we walked the street most of the night to get away from the crawlers. Oh and a word of the wise, they only clean the rooms once a week!

5 This place needs a bump up on the rating so I have to post. I stayed somewhere else for two nights and found it to be really large and impersonal and a bit noisy. I came down to Surfers Paradise Backpackers and had a much better time. A little removed from the chaos of central Surfers, but close enough you can get in when you want to party. The bar is really chill with cheap drinks. The rooms are clean. The staff was awesome. Really good atmosphere around this place if you want to be a bit removed from the noise of central Surfers and want to chill out. I'll for sure stay here when I go back to Surfers.

2 There's a bit of an institutional feel to this place.

1 I hated my stay at this hostel. There is no way I would stay there again. They wouldn't let me have spots on the oven.
