Hostelz.com's Review
Sleeping Inn Surfers Backpackers is a wonderful hostel set right in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

The Location

Sleeping Inn Surfers Backpackers is located a short walk from Surfers Paradise Central Business District (CBD) on the picturesque Peninsular Drive. The hostel is only a short walk away from so many of Surfers Paradise's famous attractions, including Skypoint Observation Deck and Main Beach. The central location of this hostel makes it very easy to access via public transport as the major bus station is only a short walk away. The bus stop to all the major attractions such as the theme parks and Sea World is only ten minutes' walk from the hostel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The hostel houses a variety of different rooms, including dorm rooms and private rooms. The hostel is split out over several different buildings which are all two levels and are in good condition, inside and out. The private rooms in this hostel are in a small, self-contained apartment complex that has been renovated into hostel rooms. Each apartment contains two private rooms, one with an en suite and one without, joined by a communal kitchen and living area. We stayed in a private double room, which contains a double bed with a single bunk above it and a walk in wardrobe. The bed is terribly uncomfortable and the room also has its own air conditioning, which is not working. The door is locked using a standard key and the room is very basic but liveable.

The bathroom facilities in the private room are excellent, as they are in a great condition and are clean. The bathroom contains a small shower cubicle, a toilet, and a large mirror set above a wash basin. The bathroom is well lit and of a decent size with the only drawback being that the shower head does not hang on the wall as the clip is broken.

Common Spaces

This hostel has several common areas including the kitchen/dining area, TV/DVD room, and the swimming pool. The kitchen that joins the private rooms is a little cramped with a large fridge/freezer, oven, and all of the other kitchen essentials such as a kettle and toaster. The kitchen light is broken, meaning cooking after the sun has set is pretty challenging. The pool is surrounded by sun loungers and there is also a TV/DVD room in the main hostel that has some large sofas and a TV. Finally this hostel offers Wi-Fi in the public areas and also several computers for public use as well as luggage storage lockers. The atmosphere of this hostel is very friendly and the hostel organises evening activities such as bar crawls and BBQs, which can be a great way to meet people.

Summary

Overall, this is good hostel that has an excellent location and a very friendly, party atmosphere.

4   Really nice place!! Sleeping inn is really good location and funny plce. It's different other city backpackers. Comfortable like home! And reception is friendly and good service. Thanks.  , KOREA ()
5   FUN FUN FUN Meant to stay 1 night stayed 2 weeks! Staff brill, nights out fun, and place cleaned everyday -- it was fantastic!!  , Irish ()
1   Very Poor We stayed here last weekend 8th of Jan. No air con in any rooms, could not sleep as a result. The kitchen and toilets were located in our room, so 8 people were walking in and out at various times to use the toilet. It was that bad we moved out the next day, loosing our money, but had to get out of it. DO NOT GO THERE.  ()
4   Good for parties! I enjoyed my stay even though the tv was broken. The staff are friendly and do their best to ensure there is something to do every night. I especially like the seal pool which I happily tried on a good hangover. Total refreshment at its best. Some found it annoying that the staff entered your dorm like everyday but I didn't mind it too much. They are party people too.  , Dutch ()
5   Best hostel i have stayed in This hostel is brilliant. i stayed here for two weeks in a twin room, it was very clean and friendly. We shared a kitchen with one other room and it was very clean, the only bad thing about it i would say is it lacked some utensils but with our own kitchen it is nothing to complain about! We also had our own TV to share with one other room! There is always something going on at sleeping inn every night whether its a BBQ or nightclubs, and very cheap! We went out on a night out with the hostel and other hostels and it was great -- it's a great opportunity to meet other people! I would recommend this hostel to anyone, it is only three minutes' walk from the center of surfers and is very friendly!  , UK ()
2   Dirty and Cramped! Unless you are fine with cockroaches and mice, don't stay here!  , Hong Kong ()
5  Sleeping Inn Surfers will be a place i will remember for the rest of my life. I came to surfers for only a few nights. I I ended up staying over three months, one month of that at sleeping inn! Yes the rooms are a little hot, and yes if you share a dorm with messy people it will get messy. but you get that where ever you go in a hostel. hey its a backpacker life! It is very close to downtown, just a few minutes stumble down ol penninsular drive. Andy and Brad are the best, the staff offer so much good info, and are excellent hosts! Sleepin inn always has something going on at night, and can offer some fun fun times. you can go in the movie theatre (old school bus converted to theatre) on the property every night, the front desk has a million dvds to watch as well! If your going to Australia make this your one stop.  ()
4  I thought this was a good hostel. I stayed in a eight-bed dorm separated into two four-bed rooms (two bunks in each). It had a living area with a kitchen just off it and a bathroom. The cleaners didn't do a great job of cleaning up the kitchen and just really mopped up the bathroom. The rooms were hot at night. We were on first floor with our own private balcony overlooking the pool. The staff were helpful and they had a night out organised every night. Great location, I'd recommend this hostel, especially anyone traveling on their own.  ()
