Suncoast Backpackers Lodge

this is a place i could call my home. such a great hostel. with pete and di, the best hosts in the world. from pete telling you to f**k off to the beach if you want to make noise, to the friends i made there. i miss that place so much. i am happy to have spent five months there.

Fantastic place, stayed here for two months in 2003. really enjoyed staying here, even working on the strawberry farm gave me some good memories. Would recommend to anyone without any hesitation.

I stayed there nine weeks and i have to say its my favorite place and home in Oz! I just loved the vibe there and i met the best new friends! Its unbelievable -- a big family! Look at the walls of fame.

Best hostel ever, we stayed here for two months and i made the best friends ever! Pete and di were amazing. We travelled for a year in 2003-2003 and this was the best hostel ever! i worked for the eight weeks on grisleys farm!

The absolute best backpackers I ever stayed at! Pete and Di are angels, so kind and nice. They make this place feel like home! The BBQ night (every Wednesday, don't miss it!), beach parties, night outs at the pig and whistle, even the bleep-ing strawberries! The way Pete wakes peeps up in the morning and gives out free food at night. He is great, knows everything and is still able to smile! I miss this place, my home away from home.

this was the best place i stayed in oz. wasnt just the hostel but the poeple too!!! pete and di and their grand kids were the best hosts! the craic we had at this hostel made the misery of the strawberries drift away. I was there when sheena ( see above) was there and i can definitely say we had the best few months ever. We were the fat aunites as we ate all the free pies! everyone should go here if you r on the east coast and u r guarenteed a great time and a real home. And go see quirk, they rock!

Stayed at this hostel in jan & Feb 2003. Intended staying for 1 night and ended up staying for 6 weeks. The only reason we left was because our visa was up! without doubt, the best hostel in Oz. clean, friendly and easy going but not hippy easy going like other hostels. It was more like a lodgings. There were bikes and surf boards, BBQ's. Pete & Di did their best to get you work. I'd would highly recommend it if they're still there. Would love to go back there tomorrow!

How could I even possibly put it into words?? I tried the YHA for two nights, sh*tty place...so I called Di and Petey came to the rescue to pick us up at the bus stop! I fell in love with 50 Parker Street and our two-night stay ended up being five months and three days! We left and came back and left again and came back, hee-hee. I sure wish I could go back now! I was in Oz for 11 months and this was the BEST hostel by far! Pete and Di are amazing and truly made me feel like I was one of their own kids! I miss them like a mom and dad! If you pass through Maroochydore and don't stop here you're truly missing out! QUIRK on Thursdays at O'Malleys, free pies and bread and treats from the pie man on Saturday and Sunday, and free Internet at the public library! I met lifelong friends here! All in all, 50 Parker Street is a legend.

Pete and Di were like a surrogate mom and dad — they were the nicest folks ever, and the barbecues were amazing. We came back twice just to hang out!!! gG here!!! It's super awesome!

I stayed at this hostel for 7 weeks and it was amazing. I recommend it to anyone — looking for work or not (especially if you are!). It's cheap, homely, full of character and an absolute must for anyone that's on the Sunshine Coast. It's great for meeting people, and anyone who gets a chance to work on the ginger farms won't be disappointed!

I stayed here for seven weeks or so, and I didn't want to miss one single day. Well, maybe one or two "strawberry days." This place offers surfing, fishing, lazy TV evenings, nice people to party with and a great atmosphere. It's perfect. It's been one of the best times in Oz. Thanks to Pete and Di.

I lived at this place for three months and had the most amazing time. I went surfing everyday, and the activities were awesome. Pete and Di were two of the kindest people I've ever met. All the tenants rocked, and fish and chip night kicked ass. I tried to paint my room in Canada the same as Suncoast — it's not the same.

WOW!!! I loved this place. I showed up here planning on staying for a couple weeks while I visited my buddy, and I ended up staying 3 months!!! The $5 all you can eat bbqs are the greatest, and there's always work. I spent 22 days at sea on a fishing boat!!! I had experiences here that I will think of every day for the rest of my life. AMAZING PLACE!!! Pete and Di truly made it my home away from home.
