Econo-In Brisbane is the most economical in Brisbane and in a newly renovated, historic building near the Bowen Hills/Fortitude Valley district.
The Location
Fortitude Valley/Bowen Hills is only one stop away from Central Station in Brisbane and about a twenty-minute walk. The hostel is set in a safe neighborhood, one block from the IGA grocery store and an easy, five-minute walk to the thriving Fortitude Valley night scene and good access to bus lines. Parking is available.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Private double rooms with ensuites are available, with sinks, desks, and TVs in each room. There are lots of channels to surf! Dorm beds are also available and there are multiple private bathrooms with showers available on each floor.
Common Spaces
Common areas include a small kitchen, sitting area inside, and a patio outside. It is a pretty small hostel full of people who like to cook, so best to plan your eating/cooking time accordingly. Late at night, drinking and smoking on the patio are permitted and there are a lot of friendly travelers here so it has a nice, easy, quiet vibe. Coin-operated washers are in the basement, but there are nice laundromats within a twenty-minute walk.

Tim, the owner of the Econo-In, is great. He'll pick you up at the train station and give you a weekly discount the longer you stay. The Econo-In has great bang for the buck and is a very cheap way to live in Brisbane long term! Two thumbs up.

You get what you pay for I stayed at this inn for about a week before I gave up. The price is great, for sure, but you get what you pay for. The negative overshadows the positive so lets get that out of the way first. The beds were nice, and ... no, that's about it. Seriously, onto the negative; there were bugs crawling all over the walls in the toilets, an astoundingly gross smell in the evening, loud shouting in the corridors and I would recommend you to buy your own plates. Seriously. I found bugs in the free cereal and a fly in the jam jar. Don't even bother if you're looking for longterm accommodation. — Knoxx , Switzerland (2011-05-08)
