The Hostelz.com Review
Toddy's is a large motel style accommodation with plenty of space. They have a small pool and an outdoor bar area where they serve nightly all-you-can-eat BBQs, which are really good value for money - as are the beers and wines they serve. The atmosphere is great, with a lot of the guests preferring to stay there for the evening instead of going into town. Although there are plenty of people around in the evening, it's not noisy and you can get a good night's sleep.
They also have an indoor communal area with TV and Pool table and a large kitchen for guests to use. Included in the price is tea/coffee and toast for breakfast. They offer a free shuttle bus pick up from the airport and bus terminal. The double rooms, dorms, and shower block are basic but very clean.
The only downside to Toddy's is that it is about a 25 minute walk into town. The hostel does however run a shuttle into town a few times a day - but not at very convenient times. The hostel is on Gap Road which runs into Todd Street which is one of the main roads into the town. Todd Street ends at the Todd Street Mall where there are a number of shops, bars and restaurants.

Avoid this place I'm only giving this place 2 stars because it was fairly clean and the reception staff were friendly. Otherwise, this is a one star hostel/budget motel. It is rundown. Some outdoor lighting is no longer working, and this is a serious safety issue. The hostel is not located in the best area, and unfortunately this seems to be the case with many accommodations in Alice Springs. It's so relaxing to hang out around the lighted pool area at night, drinking or eating the cheap dinners.
