Ferah Hostel is run by owners Tuna and Monica and consequently has a very welcoming and homey atmosphere which is heightened by the presence of their gorgeous cats, kittens, and dog.
There are three types of accommodation available at Ferah -- a ten-bed dorm room with spectacular views down to the sea through floor-to-celling windows, private rooms off the downstairs shared courtyard (which could be very noisy in peak season), and private rooms in the old house. All rooms, including the dorm, have en-suite bathrooms with showers. The private rooms all contain reverse-cycle air conditioning, which in peak season costs an additional fee to activate. The dorm comes with fans for summer, but no heating for winter.
Bathrooms are small and basic and in private rooms separated from the sleeping area by a shower curtain. Water is hot and the bathrooms are kept very clean. In the dorm, the bathroom is separated from the room by a sturdy door, however it is small and demand in peak times may cause problems.
Breakfast is included no matter what type of room you get and apple tea comes out hot and fresh all day. Dinner is available during most of the year and consists of traditional Turkish cuisine cooked fresh by Monica. Portions are large and the price is reasonable, however you will get a cheaper meal in town. In peak season, dinner is offered every night but in low season it's only offered occasionally based on the demand.
There is a decent amount of shared communal space at Ferah Hostel, but if the weather is not nice there is no good, warm space in which to relax. Communal space consists of the dining and bar area, a small sunken couch area adjoining the dining space and an enclosed reading room at the front of the hostel overlooking the street.
To get to Ferah from the Fethiye otogar simply go to the metro bus desk and ask for a complimentary lift. Alternately cross out of the otogar and catch the Karagozler dolmuc and get off at the Jandarma outpost. Cross the road, walk uphill for ten meters turn right at the first street and the hostel is about twenty meters along the road on your left.
