The Hostelz.com Review
Interhostel is a relatively cheap hostel that is neither particularly good nor bad.
The Location
The hostel is easy to find and is only a fifteen-minute walk from Stockholm's central train station. Follow the hostel's instructions. "Standing on Vasagatan, with the Central Station behind you, take left. You should go along Vasagatan (the name of this street will change, just keep going straight" and turn to the left to Kammakargatan 46, where the hostel is situated." The immediate neighborhood itself is rather uninteresting but it is close to a main street (where there is supermarket) and the main shopping street.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms are neither roomy nor cramped, but the lockers are generously sized. The dorms use key locks, but do not automatically lock when the door is closed, so remember to lock the door behind you with the key once you leave. The beds and pillows are moderately comfortable. The hostel is medium sized and thus has a good variety of rooms. The bathrooms are not shared and are small but clean. There is space for your shower things, but not much in the way of hooks. The showers themselves are quite cramped and temperature control is terrible.
Common Space
The common space is a bunch of stools, tables, and couches with a big screen TV. There are also some computers that run fairly well and are in English or Swedish. Luggage storage is rather secure as the room can only be opened by reception. There is also a well-stocked kitchen where the utensils, pots, and pans are all very clean. Since there is no free breakfast, this kitchen comes in quite handy. The atmosphere of Interhostel is relaxed and easygoing, however, as there is no age limit on the patrons, there tends to be a higher percentage of adults than you would find in other hostels. Therefore the atmosphere is social but subdued, especially with strict rules against bringing alcohol into the hostel.
Summary
In short, Interhostel is a decent place with a subdued but social atmosphere with a great kitchen and location.
