Go someplace else Hostel looks nice from outside, staff is pretty weird. They don't ask for any information when you check in and you have to calculate your own price. The staff consists of a group of friends or family who all stay in this hostel. They get drunk during the day and invite all their friends in. You feel like you're in their environment, instead of them supplying for travelers. They are really helpful, but that gets irritating when they try to get involved in everything you do. Lot of noise during the night, drunken english girls screaming in the other room. Staff is willing to share pod with you. Kitchen was great. — vj , dutch (2011-08-13)
OMG! I feel i need to warn you about this "hostel", it is the worst place i have ever stayed in. My friend and i checked in and were greeted by a group of old irish guys who were drunk, this was a 2 in the afternoon. The guys staying there told me that they were homeless and the nice lady lets them stay there, and the irish government pays her!!! Well all the other hostels were booked so we decided to stay, and what a mistake, we showered and to our horror one of the drunk guys was peeking through a hole in the bathroom. We were so afraid and called the irish police and when they came they arrested 2 guys who had robbed and beaten an old lady earlier that week and they were guests. It was an absolute crazy place. — mary klein , USA (2011-01-23)

Best experience I have in Ireland If you are young and travel for example like me alone through ireland and want to sleep in a familiar and friendly hostel than you have to go to the Woodquay hostel. You will meet there a lot of nice people and if you need some help with cooking or you do not find something you just have to ask and Simon or July will help you. And if you have luck simon will cook real Irish Stew for you or you have your own concert when July sings. For me was this hostel the best stay in Ireland and I will go to them when I will visit Galway again. — Louisa , Germany (2009-08-23)
Awful Absolutely horrible. Don't waste your money. I slept only maybe thirty minutes or an hour the night I stayed there. Groups of people were extremely loud outside the building yelling and screaming and coming inside at all hours of the night and ringing the doorbell. People would knock on our door even though there was no one else staying in the room and scared us! The sheets were dirty and had hair all in them, so I slept on my coat. The bathrooms were old and dirty too. The lady that runs it seemed creepy and the whole place is just really questionable. Better to stay in a B&B for just a little more than what I paid for this dump! — CM , United States (2008-06-22)
This hostel is a nightmare! During the day it looks good, but at night the trouble starts. There are only drunken men in this hostel, there is noise the whole night, and all night there is somebody is ringing the doorbell. The wardens are scary. My boyfriend and I were totally frightened and left the hostel after a sleepless night. In the morning we realized that we were the only travelers in this hostel. All the other guests were drunken and dirty old men, maybe homeless guys. We paid 20 euros each — that's too much for this horrible place! I will never go there again!!! — Anke (2005-03-13)

This is a good hostel, not expensive and well located. It's a great place to meet new people. It offers a kitchen for guests, it has a common room with sofas, and they give you a clean towel for a shower for just one euro. The rooms are comfortable and big enough, clean, and most of them have six beds. The only problem would be the timetable for the hot water! It's only on until 9 or 10 p.m. This is a good place to stay. Be sure you book in advance, though, especially in the summertime. — Núria, Barcelona (2005-01-02)
