The Hostelz.com Review
Extremely polite staff, a good location and the sensation of being at a friends' house make A1 Hostel Bratislava a very nice to place to stay when you go to Bratislava.
The Location
The instructions given by the hostel are enough to find the right place. It is in the first floor of a hidden building only one block away from one of the most important avenues of the city, right at the entrance of the old town. There is a supermarket one hundred-fifty meters away, several restaurants in within a hundred meters' range and the public transportation is all nearby, like several tram lines and bus stops. Also, within walking distance the whole old town can be seen. There are no parking spaces though.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are only two rooms, a double/triple room, and an eight-bed room. There are no lockers, but with such a limited amount of people, it's not really a concern. Every bed has its own plug for charging equipment, so you can see at anytime if it's charged or not. The windows cannot be completely closed, so you might want to bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to light.
Regarding bathrooms, there is only one for taking a shower and another as toilet. The shower one has space for letting clothes, towels and so on, but there's no toilet (there's only a sink other than the shower). The toilet is in the other room, also with a sink. But only one person can use each room at a time, so sometimes (like in the morning) it can take a while to be able to use it.
Common Spaces
The living room is the place to socialize. There is a notebook with internet available for anyone and Wi-Fi connection is also provided for free. A big table is used for game cards, taking breakfast and so on, and there are some guides about Bratislava and a big couch in this room, but that's all. There is not the option of buying breakfast there, but you can buy some things here, like regional wine, beer, and chocolate. Given the small size of the hostel, you'll definitely socialize with the people in your room, and finding people to walk together around Brastislava won't be difficult.
Summary
If you want to be in a very cozy environment, where you are fated to make new friends (given the small size of the hostel) and don't mind about waiting a while for using the shower or searching for breakfast in the morning, this place suits well. The location makes it easy to reach anywhere in Bratislava, so it's also recommended because of that.
