Oughterard Holiday Hostel & Angling Center

If you're looking to escape to the remote countryside, with not a hint of the concrete jungle to grey your day, then Oughterard's Canrawer House is a fantastic place to unwind and take it slow. Furthermore, the tourist capital of Galway is not far to the south, and the beautiful Connemara landscape is just northwest.

The hostel is located in a wooded area just near the Lough Corrib, with fishing opportunities and the nearby Aughnanure Castle. The house itself has large, spacious rooms with the feel of a modern ranch. Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining area, and a TV entertainment room. No breakfast is provided. The dorms are clean, carpeted and cozy, and the co-ed bathrooms are excellent, although not all dorms have bathrooms. Bedding is included.

The hostel is located on the main road through the town of Oughterard, so you're unlikely to miss it if you're driving. Buses run along the route, giving you a fairly short trip to Galway. In general, it's an excellent hostel in a great location, which might just tempt you to settle down for longer than you had planned.
