The Hostelz.com Review
Hospedaje La Libertad is a bit rough around the edges and in need of one or two improvements but it´s a convenient spot, has lots of beds, internet, and a kitchen (although it´s not great).
The Location
La Libertad is on Calle 14 de Septiembre opposite the Bearded Monkey. It´s about a five-minute walk from the Parque Central. Although most of the restaurants are on the other side of the square, it´s not a long walk and anyway walking the streets of Granada is the best thing to do in the town. There is one supermarket down the road on the other side of the market but it is quite a long way. It's easy to find the hostel from the bus stops, it´s on the second street west of the central park. Just find the road and head north, you really shouldn´t miss it -- it´s the bright blue and red building.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorms are large and have a lot of beds in them but are quite spacious and have big lockers for each bed. The private rooms are also large and spacious -- nothing fancy but all that you really need. The bathrooms could do with a bit of a clean but aren´t too bad.
Common Spaces
There are a few couches, chairs, and hammocks to lounge around the courtyard, which is a nice way to relax and get out of the sun. There are three computers and the internet is included (which is wonderful). The only problem with the computers is the operating system -- they crash quite a bit and you can neither download anything nor plug anything into the computers. There is a kitchen but it´s not much -- basically four stove plates in what looks like the laundry area. Most of the cutlery and things that you will need are there, but the whole area could definitely do with a clean and tidy.
Summary
La Libertad is not a bad place to stay by any means -- they could do with one or two improvements but it has what you need for a fine stay. It´s great to have internet included, despite the computers, and although the kitchen isn´t great it´s still better to have one than too not. There are lots of guests and it has a fairly quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
Thieves and bedbugs I stayed in this Hostel from Oct, 18 - Oct 24 2011. La Libertad was recommended by a fellow traveler encountered on the Tica Bus from San Jose, Costa Rica to Managua, Nicaragua. I arrived around 9 in the evening and made arrangements for a private room. It was the only one with a TV and located adjacent to the showers and bathrooms. I paid $12 per day and stayed 6 days. Things were ok for the majority of the visit though a bit noisy and only moderately clean. The staff were moderately friendly and semi-accommodating and the beer was cold and coffee was hot. The coffee is free and the beer is 25 Cordobas (roughly $1.10). I asked for and received a change of linens on day 4 which I changed myself. That was the night after exterminators had been called to the front of the hostel for bedbug problems and I was feeling itchy but couldn't see anything. Day 5 the bedbugs were arriving and I complained but got little response. I had some deep woods off and sprayed my linens with it and it helped. Major problem on departure was finding that my room had been robbed of $1000 cash and it had to be an employee because the lock on the door was provided by them. I reported the theft and it was not conveyed to the owner who has just recently contacted me. This is an experience that I will never forget. — Bob Inman President- Going Native Adventures LLC , American (2011-10-26)
