Hostelz.com's Review
Hard Rock Backpackers is a well-themed hostel located right in the center of Jeffreys Bay. The hostel does have Wi-Fi and offers two hundred megabytes of free internet daily. There is a decent-sized parking lot for those with cars, plus a keypad to the gate and the front door so that guests can come and go as they please. There is no restaurant at the hostel, but there is a self-catering kitchen and some braai facilities for barbecuing outside.

The Location

Hard Rock Backpackers is located in Jeffreys Bay, no more than a five-minute walk from the Indian Ocean. There are an abundance of restaurants, bars, and party scenes all within a short walk of the hostel, with the further places being just under two kilometers in distance. There are a few signs for the hostel, so it isn't too difficult to find, but it is set back in a residential neighborhood.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are kept very clean; the hostel looks like it was recently renovated, so everything is still shiny and new. Most of the dorms have about eight beds in them, and are a decent size. The bathrooms are unisex, with a couple of showers and toilets, as well as hot water. There are dorm rooms and private rooms as well as a lawn for campers to setup their tents, although there isn't much shade during the majority of the day.

Common Spaces

The common spaces in this hostel are a bit lacking compared to other hostels. It does have one living room with a few couches and a TV, a self-catering kitchen with a kitchen table, a billiards room without many places to sit, and a small outside patio. If you're looking for a place to lounge around however, there isn't much space, especially once the hostel gets crowded. The back lawn is a decent size, but you probably don't want to spend too much time there unless you're sunbathing, as there isn't too much shade. The hostel is a good size for interacting with and meeting other travelers.

Summary

As far as hostels go, Hard Rock Backpackers is pretty good. It has a snazzy feel to it, and with its location in Jeffreys Bay it is a good choice for anyone visiting the area. It has a bit of a party atmosphere, as it is in Jeffreys Bay, but if you're looking for a big party, you might be better suited at another hostel.

5   Rocking Spot in Jeffreys Bay. Sand, sea, and surf, with something for everyone. check out these guys, they might be the new kids on the block but they are rocking it! I can see many late nights and early mornings at the Hard Rock Backpackers, I was witness to a few while in Jeffery's Bay. The place is open and fresh yet warm and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are awesome, clean, and you feel right at home. A must for anyone looking for accommodation in Jbay, fun all year round!  , South Africa ()
