Nice place close to beach We stayed at this hostel on a Wednesday night second week of August. The hostel itself was very quiet and restful, however right next to the hostel are privately owned beach cabins and one of those was a little noisy early in the evening, but all was quiet by 11 p.m. It is right next to a beautiful beach and we had a nice walk in the morning on the bike path along the beach. My sister and I stayed in a double room with bunk beds that had a balcony. There was a sink in the room and the furnishings appeared new. There is also a playground near the hostel with a lot of fun things to keep kids occupied. The area around the hostel is wooded and lots of shade. The breakfast room was a bit crowded in the morning but featured typical excellent Swedish fare (breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, and yogurt). — Vicki , USA (2009-09-03)

I loved the hostel If this is the same hostel I stayed at twenty-five years ago, and it looks like it, I loved it. Was the site of an event I remember fondly, and wistfully, my entire life. — chris , USA (2009-06-25)

Facilities: This is a really nice hostel to stay at. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and there are lockers inside the rooms. There is a lovely big television common room with dining tables and a big cushy couch. There are also books to read (some in English), and a bunch of board games to play. There is a nice kitchen to cook in, and coffee and tea and a bunch of other things are provided free of charge (there is also a spot for free food in the fridge). The kitchen is a little small, but there aren't many rooms in the hostel so it is not likely to be crowded in there. Some of the rooms have a sea view overlooking the port, which is nice. There is no curfew (you get a key to the front door). The only small downers are that you have to take your shoes off at the front door (slightly annoying), and (in the ladies at least) the showers don't really have a spot for your clothes and things which means a little bit of a quick naked dash to grab your towel (a little robe would be a good idea). The Swedish ladies there didn't seem to have a problem with this, so it might be a cultural thing ;)
Location: The hostel is right on top of the train station, so it was very easy to get to with heavy bags. It is a very quick walk to the centre of town, and the beach is also within walking distance. It is also next to the ferry terminal.
Atmosphere/Stuff to do: This isn't a real party type of hostel, but it seems ok to make a bit of noise without getting yelled out. It has a very relaxed atmosphere — Amy , Australia (2005-01-31)
