Hostelz.com's Review
Hostel 64 Osaka is an excellent hostel choice, whether for a few nights or a longer stay. It is one of the highest quality hotels we have ever stayed in.

The Location

The hostel is conveniently located a short walk away from a subway station. The subway lines are connected to the train that goes to the airport, making it cheaply and easily reachable from the airport or the main train station. While it is not far from the subway station, it is not very straightforward to find it, as it is located in a small, unassuming alley and the sign is not highly visible at night. We would recommend using the GPS on a smartphone or printing out a map beforehand, to avoid headaches. The hostel is otherwise located in a good, safe area, and there are a few convenience stores within walking distance.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms and bathrooms are exceptionally clean. Everything looks new and is very modern. The rooms are not actually dorms -- they are more like small private rooms. We have stayed in many hostels in many countries and it's the only place we have seen this. It was so surprising, we had to double-check that we had in fact booked a dorm and not inadvertently booked a private room. Each bed is in its own little room, big enough to only accommodate the bed and your luggage. There is a curtain for each little room. There is an outlet and a little lamp. The beds are large and very comfortable and the sheets and duvets are high quality and very clean. There are safes in the rooms, big enough to hold small valuables, but not a full-sized laptop.

There is shampoo and shower gel in the showers, and there is ample room to change and store clothes. The sinks are separate as well as the toilets. The toilets are Japanese jet toilets, which is a nice bonus if you're new to them.

Common Spaces

There is a beautiful common space that's inviting and very nicely decorated. There are a few places to sit, both on chairs and a thick rug. The internet connection is incredibly fast, even by Japanese standards. The reception area is on the same floor, and they serve coffee and tea, as well as a small selection of food (at a cost). The only problem we see with this hostel is that it doesn't have a kitchen. This does not, however, make it any less appealing and we still recommend it wholeheartedly.

Summary

Hotel 64 is an amazing hostel in Osaka. You get very good value for your money and you're guaranteed to get a good night's sleep. It is a small hostel, very welcoming, and you'll feel right at home.
