The Hostelz.com Review
Equity Point London is a fancy hostel in a more or less rich area of London, close to a Metro Station, with good facilities but nothing included. This makes the expensive London a little more expensive.
The Location
The hostel is in a large avenue in the Paddington neighborhood, some seven minutes away from the Paddington Metro Station. There are night buses departing right in front of the hostel, so the location is good. The indications given by the hostel are perfect for reaching it (even telling to turn right when leaving the metro, although there are two exits from the Metro in the Praed Street).
Rooms and Bathrooms
It is a big hostel with many rooms and several options for guests, from single rooms to many beds in a room. Every room has a bathroom, so you know with how many people you share it. There is a tub, a shower, a sink, a mirror, and a toilet in each bathroom, with enough space for leaving your clothes and towel. There is a locker for each bed, but no locks, so bring one. The mattresses are good enough for a good night's sleep, the curtains really make the room dark, and there is no noise from external sources, so you can have a good night's sleep (depending on who shares the room with you!).
Common Spaces
The hostel offers a set of computers and Wi-Fi (each of which you pay for separately); some TVs with movies; a pub on the underground level (which was not very crowded usually); and a common room, where people can play games, eat, and drink together. It is a completely nonsmoking hostel, so smokers get together in front of the building. We made many friends just with the people who were sharing our eight-bed room, and by going to the common spaces.
The common room is also where the breakfast takes place. The meal is a positive point of the hostel -- it offers more options than regular hostels do, such as two types of yogurt, two types of bread, two types of jam, two types of corn flakes, coffee, and tea.
Summary
Given its location (near a subway station), the quality of the rooms, and mainly the breakfast, we would recommend Equity Point when going to London. But be aware that it's probably one of the most expensive hostels in London.
