Wonderful place, great price, but not for true backpacker/hostelers Under new management, this place no longer offers cooking facilities. They still have the two (maybe three) very nice, small dorm rooms that accommodate two people (bunk beds). I'm staying here at present and it's very pleasant. The former communal kitchen area is now for the sole use of the occupants in that part of what is essentially a large private home. The up side of this change is that you are not locked out during the day. There is a check out time I'm sure, but if you stay more than a day you'll be able to come and go as you please, unlike some hostels that are so impersonal -- "Hello. Let's be all warm and fuzzy and cook organic quinoa together, then get the heck out by 10 a.m.!"

I loved this Hostel! The rooms were clean and it had a beautiful courtyard to hang out in. The bunk room was nice because I only shared with one other person. The staff was nice and very helpful.

we liked the guest house part of this hostel. we stayed in one of the rooms upstairs with a view of the bay and it was beautiful. a good price for a room with a view. they kept it nice and clean too everyday with coffee. but the hostel part was definitely a flop. the kitchen was barely usable. if they fixed that part up, we would give it a better rating. but the hostel is in a great location.

Our family of four adults and one child stayed in their Suite 1 in the summer of 2002. We thought it was very roomy and comfortable and clean. We loved the loft and the huge windows out front that face the harbor. We are visiting again this March 2005, same room, so we hope it will just as delightful. It's within walking distance to everything in Old Town!

It's difficult to classify this as a hostel. The kitchen has just one hot plate!! SO if there are 3 or 4 folks who need to cook . . . you can eat dinner for breakfast!! Also, $20 for a bunk is expensive, considering that you do not get any benefits. For 2 people that's $40 — you could get into any motel for that price. Overall, not recommended as a hostel.

This place had nice clean beds that were fairly new and plenty of hot water in the shower. There was only a heating plate for cooking. It's within walking distance of a beautiful beach with black rock formations. I would go back.

We were so disappointed in this hostel that we walked right back out. The whole place reeks of stale cigarettes. I don't think this place would pass a health code inspection. (We made a summer visit.)

Little below average. This hostel has a great location, within walking distance to the beach. There are cool rock formations in the surf and tide pools. Watch for logs in surf. There's plenty of hot water in shower. The beds creaked but were comfortable. The kitchen is not good. I would go back.

Our family of four visited here. We ate barbequed fresh salmon on the patio, played games up in the loft, walked to the harbor and flew kites. We loved it!

Your typical hostel in a seaside town. There weren't a lot of people there when I stayed and the kitchen doesn't have stoves, just a hot plate. Overall, it's kind of blah.
