Hostelz.com's Review
Garden Stone Hostel is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Puerto Iguazu. The owners, though they speak limited English, are available to answer any question regarding the town and its main feature, Iguazu Falls. A map of the area is provided. A buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, cereal, brown and french breads, butter, jams, oranges, cake, cookies, crackers, coffee, tea, juice and milk is included. There is strong Wi-Fi available; however, it does not always work in the dorm room.

The Location

Garden Stone is conveniently located three blocks from the bus station. It is on a quiet street though only four blocks from the center of town. A quiet night's sleep is all but guaranteed here. Puerto Iguazu is a small town, and from the hostel, anywhere in the town can be reached on foot.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There is one five-bed, en suite dorm for males and one five-bed en suite dorm for females as well as a variety of private rooms. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. There are air-conditioning units in the dorm rooms and lockers as well as enough power outlets for five people. The dorms are secure and lockable. The attached bathrooms are clean and the showers have decent pressure and hot water. Hand soap is provided at the sinks.

Common Spaces
Behind the front building with the reception and private rooms, the property has lush landscape and a trio of hammocks for lounging. There is a pool that is cleaned daily, with numerous chairs, though only two lounge chairs. The back building has a lounge area with a couch, table, chair, and small flat-screen TV. This space is shared with the kitchen, which is well stocked and available for guest use. There is a picnic table. The adjoining room has tables and chairs. Garden Stone is not a party hostel and more apt to be occupied by families. It is quiet and subdued. On one hand, as it has a limited number of dorm beds, it can be difficult to meet other travelers. On the other hand, the dorm rooms are often booked.

Summary

Overall, Garden Stone is a lovely and welcoming hostel. If you are looking for a party or more lively atmosphere, this may not be the best choice. If you are looking for a peaceful and chilled-out atmosphere, Garden Stone is perfect.

5   Tranquility Lovely setting w/ pool. Helpful hosts, very good breakfast (eggs, cereal, breads), clean, individual bathrooms. Use of air conditioner restricted to 10pm-10 am, but not really a problem. Kitchen ok; no microwave. Reasonably priced. Loved it!  , USA ()
4   Good option Was worried from reviews that puerto iguazu did not have a hostel without shortcomings, but garden stone was solid. Rooms clean with good beds. Breakfast excellent, wifi acceptable. Mosquito levels acceptable. Bathrooms could use upgrading ... probably weakest area. Gardens and common areas nice, kitchen well equipped if not dated. Did not feel like the place was as dead as some described it. In fact the nearby self-described party hostels looked pretty quiet when I went by. Location is a five minute walk from supermarket or bus terminal.  , age 30 ()
5   Excellent I really liked the tropical garden and pool at the back. Very nice place, very clean and very nice people. 4 blocks from the bus terminus.  , Maltese ()
