The Hostelz.com Review
Named after the owner, Hille, this private hostel is located in a house on the outskirts of the town center. It's about a 10-minute walk to the train station. The house is set back from the street and has a quieter vibe to it. It seems popular with older and long-term guests. There isn't a common room, but there is a big kitchen which you have full access to. There are showers/bathrooms in the dorms and there is no curfew (you get a key). It has a very homey feel, and Hille is an extremely nice lady.
There are few downsides to this hostel, though it is certainly not the type of place to stay expecting parties. Dorms have bunks that are passable, though the floors are very creaky. The hostel can be a bit confusing to find as there only a small sign in a window and the house is set back behind some large doors. There is a small supermarket within 5 minutes walk, and it's 10 minutes to the town center.

Genial! I stayed there for three nights, as part of my four days getaway in Germany and it was just absolutely perfect. A nice house, with a calm atmosphere, beautiful setting. Super friendly staff, a lovely hungry cat. Easy to check in and out, internet access, gorgeous bathroom. A delightful place! Next time you go to Trier, make sure you stay there! — Alex Jones , England (2009-08-13)

I was a little confused on arrival. The reservation had been sorted, but I had to call Hille on arrival -- after a heavy day of cycling I just wanted somewhere to flop down. Fortunately on arrival, there was an envelope with my name and key and a welcome letter -- wonderful! I just had to call Hille to let her know of my arrival, and received a very friendly reception. Trier is not quite party central, but there's some wonderfully atmospheric pubs for a quiet drink, and the Zum Domstein restaurant is great for a blowout meal. The room I stayed in had its own bathroom, comfortable beds and there's no breakfast, but there's a bakery (open Sundays) across the road. There was no social room inside, but a pleasant patio around the back, although noise must be kept down after 10 p.m. — Jim H (2007-02-18)

My group of four stayed here in Febuary. It was excellent, clean, and very comfortable. The owner and staff was very nice and treated us very well. I recomend this to everyone!!! — Shane (2006-03-07)

We stayed here for two nights in June and had a really good time. The hostel is in a good location and clean. The people running the hostel are very laid back and there are no curfews, etc. No complaints from us. — Danielle (2005-09-13)
