A standard HI hostel situated in 2 buildings in the old town. As the town survives on tourists, it may be good to make a reservation in summer. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, and dorms are single-sex. Breakfast is included and quite good (snag some stuff for lunch). The owners are serviceable but can be harried. There are common rooms, though no one used them while we stayed there. There is all-night access with a passcode. The beds are decent and there are pay-lockers in the rooms. There is internet access in the main building.
As this is an HI hostel, a surplus of school kids is the norm. The biggest downside is the walk from the train station (20 minutes, though half is to get to the old town). Not really a place to hang out inside although there are plenty of benches and gardens outside. Bottled beer is sold at reception. In sum, aside from the kids, this is a great place to stay while seeing the town.
