The Hostelz.com Review
Paprika Hostel is like a home away from home, with friendly staff who take the time to sit you down and point out all the places (touristy and non-touristy) you should visit, on the free map they provide. They cook up amazing breakfasts in the morning, freshly cooked based on your choice of dish (including French toast, specialty omelets, bacon and eggs, and porridge). Thanks to its smallish size, it is an incredibly friendly hostel without being overbearing, and everyone socialises together in the common rooms with the option of going out drinking together in the evening with the hostel staff.
The Location
Finding the hostel is simple using the directions provided by Paprika after you have reserved a bed. It is an easy, five-minute walk to the main train station (Nyugati) and metro stop, from which the main bus station (Negleti) is accessible. The hostel is in a quiet suburb and within walking distance to all the major sights in Budapest.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms are spacious enough and tidy, with in-room lockers (locks are available for a refundable deposit from the staff). There are no private rooms, though there are a couple of three-bed rooms, but everyone is so friendly in the hostel that it's better to share! The bathrooms are amazing -- very clean, with modern fittings and plenty of space to change.
Common Spaces
The common spaces are excellent. There is a modern kitchen that is free to use at any time, with a communal fridge. The dining room and common room are adjacent, with plenty of guide books to borrow, a flat screen TV, a communal laptop (but free Wi-Fi too), and various games. There is no specific luggage room but you're welcome to leave bags in a space in the common room (and we felt comfortable doing so). This is a really sociable hostel, and so friendly that anyone could make friends here, as the staff are so great at getting everyone involved. Nevertheless, if you don't want a big party hostel, its small enough to still get enough sleep and there's no pressure to go out.
Summary
Overall this is one of the best hostels we've come across on our travels, thanks to the staff, friendliness, cleanliness -- and most of all -- the amazing breakfasts!!

Friendly, clean, luxurious, well priced, and well located! Paprika is a really clean, amiable environment that welcomes you right in to Budapest whether you're a first timer or making a return trip. The owner, Andi, is super nice and friendly. She takes the time to sit down with everyone upon arrival and do a map tour which indicates all the major points of interest in Budapest, and even some you never would have guessed existed! Also, there are pub crawls every night for those that want to enjoy Budapest's happening night life. The building itself is clean and modern on the inside, and has a charming style of architecture characteristic of older Budapest without. There is free breakfast, free wifi or communal laptop use, also a cool common area where everyone meets with guitars, travel library, cable tv and dvds. 4 bathrooms means plenty of space for everyone, which can be crucial in the morning! The location is great as well; 5 minute walk to the Parliament and the Danube, and a five minute walk the other way to Nyugati train station. It's on a quiet side street, but with plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as a 24 hour market in proximity. Keys to the rooms and also lockers for your your personal items are available as well. Overall this is a great hostel, and very well priced for what it offers. I would recommend a stay for those that would like a comfortable, clean, fun, informative, and affordable stay in Budapest! — Andrew , U.S.A. (2012-05-09)
