1 Disgusting!
I stayed at this place for way too long, and it was nothing but drunks and drug addicts! Manager included! He was always high and drinking beer. It was basically a place for homeless and welfare people, some tourists in the summer. There are only two restrooms for many people. It's a sad situation that people live like animals there.

1 Unclean and Unsafe
I have stayed at hostels around Europe and the U.S. and this was by far the worst experience. The lobby smelled like cigarettes and I was very sad to discover that the room I was in was a smoking room. I had paid for two nights but left after the first. I did not get good sleep at all. I was awoken over and over during the night by people yelling and sometimes fighting in the street outside my third floor window even though I was wearing earplugs. In addition, there were only two bathrooms with one toilet each for the entire floor. My life lesson -- ask if your room is smoke free and read online reviews.

1 Skid row hotel masquerading as a hostel
during my stay at the Hideaway of several months it was occupied by local drunks, people with vouchers from the welfare department, drug addicts, and some of the creepiest people one could imagine. for them to advertise it as a cozy nest in the heart of historic Astoria is false and misleading.

1 Not a good experience
I had planned to stay two nights but I only stayed one and slept in my car the second night. Two bathrooms for a lot of long term residents. Noisy and I felt unsafe. The couple across the hall had a big fight and people were out on the roof. Not a place for me.

5 This was a wonderful place to stay had a private room. Robbie was wonderful and fulfilled all our needs when we ask. might not be a five star hotel but I think people need to think that it is a hostel not the regency.

1 This is not a hostel. I did not meet a single traveler while staying here. Everyone that stayed here was homeless and looking for a job, and were all from Oregon. It was a very sad place to be, interesting if you want to get an idea of what the the effect is of the American "welfare" system, but heartbreaking.

4 It was great! It was like traveling back in time. The people were very friendly. I hope to go back. It is a wonderful place and very reasonable.

1 Awful. I called to see about a room and was told the only thing available was the honeymoon suite, which was $81.75 a night, it had a bay view and a bath. When I arrived and paid for two nights, I was taken to my room. The room was in the back of the building with the words "fire exit" painted on the door. The room was small, no queen size bed like I was told, no bay view like I was told (view of old Astoria buildings) and no bath, just a shower. The only lock was a tiny bolt and to top it off, bugs on the bottom of the refridgerator. Yuck. I asked for my money back due to the fact that I was misled and did not feel safe there with two kids. I was charged $81.75 for a night when I was there for less than five minutes. I even called to speak with the manager and was told I was placed in the wrong room, however, I still couldn't get a refund. Their error but they wouldn't reimburse my money. Not a good way to keep a business going. Do not recommend.

3 i stayed in the women's hostel room for a few nights. clean, but very ugly and dated. the bathroom was dark and had this awful spray deodorizer that would go off every few minutes while i did my make-up in there (no mirror in the room). whoever chose the paint colors for this place must've wanted to induce vomiting or cause all of thier guests to commit suicide-- seriously, it was BAD.

4 Cute hostel in an excellent location downtown just off the main drag of shops and restaurants. We stayed in a private room which was small but clean. The hosts were very nice as well. Definitely recommend!
