The Hostelz.com Review
For a very reasonable price, Spirit Hostel provides way more than the average hostel. This hostel cannot be recommended highly enough!
The Location
The hostel is fairly easy to get to. Take tram number 2 from the main bus or train station, and get off four stops from the bus station or five stops from the train station. The street the hostel is on is the first on the left. It's not so easy to find the street sign, and anyway, it will be in Cyrillic. Just ask a local if you get stuck. So turn down this street, Brace Baruh, and walk about two hundred meters, and you will come to a yellow building and blue sign for Spirit Hostel. It is number 20b, on the fourth floor of the building (don't worry, there is a lift!). The hostel can also arrange a pick-up from the airport, bus or train station, for a fee. Car parking is also available for a fee.
The location is great for tourists -- it is in Dorcol, the oldest part of Belgrade. The Kalemegdan fortress is only five minutes away, as is the old bohemian quarter of Skadarlija, with its cobbled streets and traditional Serbian restaurants. Another street, known locally as Silicon Valley, is very nearby too and has lots of bars.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are twenty-three beds in total -- four-, six-, and eight-bed dorm rooms, and a single, double, and twin room. The rooms are fairly spacious, and the beds are good quality, with a reading light for each guest. Bed linen is provided and, impressively, so are a bathrobe, slippers, and two towels. Everything is clean and fresh. All the rooms are air-conditioned, and wireless internet is available in the bedrooms. Every guest gets two lockers in the room, which are more than big enough to store luggage as well as valuables.
There are separate men and women's toilets and bathrooms. Everything is exceptionally clean. Each shower has an area curtained off for changing and hooks to hang towels or clothes. Some basic toiletries are provided (shower gel, cotton wool) and there is a hairdryer in the women's bathroom.
Common Spaces
The common area has cable TV, and some DVDs, music, magazines, and a book exchange. There is a dining area and a balcony (a plus for smokers), and small, well-equipped guest kitchen. Free tea and coffee is available all day, and free breakfast is served between 8 and 11 a.m. Wireless internet is available in the common area, and there are two guest computers with free internet and free printing. The reception is only staffed from 8 a.m. to midnight, but check-in outside those hours is possible if you specify your arrival time when you book.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and sociable. The small size of the hostel means it is good for meeting people, though it definitely has less of a party atmosphere than other Belgrade hostels.
Summary
For cleanliness, facilities, location, and helpful staff, this hostel is pretty much unbeatable. If you are looking for somewhere with a real party atmosphere, or you want to find the cheapest room you can find, maybe Spirit Hostel isn't for you. Otherwise, it's perfect.

Dark street, too cold or too hot water! My main problem there was too cold or too hot water! So showers were not pleasant! Also showers are not spacey. Those photos here are of ladies bathroom which has some more space. Male baths are too small! Hostel is situated in a Gypsy neighborhood. If you come by night there are dark, scary streets which leads you to it. Staff (Nicola and Catherine) are quite arrogant and those fake smiles sometime don't help. Not pleasant to talk with them. Ah, also, key stuck many times, so you can't open the door! Fix it! — Berliner , Germany (2011-06-22)
