The Hostelz.com Review
Hostel One Sevilla Alameda is odd and expensive for what you get; breakfast is not included. Yet, the location makes up for it all and provides a good nights sleep after a long one out experiencing flamenco.

The Location

Old town Sevilla -- where the hostel is found -- is not a bad location, but no guest has found this place on their own, and if by car, it can be a headache though there is free parking a good walking distance away. Driving in old town can be a curb-rashing experience. Nearby are several quirky bars and restaurants, and small grocers if you desire to cook your own. Still, Hostel One Sevilla Alameda is a bit removed from tourist destinations and walking is the norm.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are mixed-sex (there are female only too) double bunks with secure lockers and windows that open. Beds are clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are limited, but clean and there is plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower (also limited). At capacity, the lack of bathrooms/showers is a problem. Decor is average, but the building lends to the feeling of coziness having an open-atrium style.

Common Spaces

A small kitchen is moderately functional with enough cookware and dishware to prepare a proper meal. There is a four-burner stovetop without oven, a microwave, and a toaster waiting to electrocute the unsuspecting. It can become crowded quickly, as the dining area is also crammed into this tiny space, and more than one cook in the kitchen makes for discomfort. There are, however, five computer terminals for internet and Wi-Fi is swift. The lounge area isn't so great and staffers are a mixed bunch, some more hospitable than others.

Summary

This large-ish hostel is lacking for bathrooms/showers, it is expensive, and does not provide any sort of breakfast (but coffee and tea are always available, which is a plus), but the location is the winning bit. It's not so central, but quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Guests tend to stay to themselves as interaction is not encouraged, facilitated, or denied by staffers.

2  Huge disappointment. After reading the reviews we were really excited to come stay. Huge disappointment. The kitchen is tiny. There were no activities organised. The staff gave us incorrect directions. Attitude of the staff was neutral at best. The "terrace" has enough space for four people and closes at 10pm. There is zero atmosphere. While the en-suite bathroom seems nice at first, when you use the shower it floods the entire bathroom and you are forced to walk through water, this never got cleaned. The common area is a joke, enough seating for four people and no tv. The only people you meet are the ones you share a dorm with. The wifi did not work. They said they had a laundry service, when we used it they said it would take a while to get back to us because the laundry place was quite a long way away. When we enquired about it again, the staff member went out back took our clothes out of a dryer and told us the laundry was on site. Complete dishonesty. The only good things about this hostel was that it was relatively clean.  , Canada ()
5  Great location for a stay in Sevilla Nice and very clean facilities. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Coffee, tea, olive oil, spices were free and also available! All in all, I really had a great time there and will get back to when I will be in Seville again.  , Germay ()
