The Hostelz.com Review
The location and the exterior looks of the Davison House is pleasant. The staircase up to the front door is covered and there is a whiteboard on the way up to to see which room/bed had been reserved for you. Upon entering the hostel you will get the sense of walking into your own house. It is very clean and the rooms are decorated simply and with a special touch. The women's only bedroom is done up in lavender and whites. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Make sure you get back before everyone else if you want a hot shower!

Upstairs is the location of the kitchen and living area. Both are very inviting and have every amenity you need. The living room offers a television, DVD player, ample seating for at least 15 people, and a patio with a barbeque. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishware, pots, pans, microwave, refrigerator, oven, and picnic table seating so perfect for those of you wanting to save money and cook for yourself.

The only negative thing I have to say about my experience is that the atmosphere changed from social to quiet when the the owners showed up. The owners said they come up in the event that the hostel is not fully booked and invite their friends over for dinner/watching tv.

In my top ten of hundreds of Hostels visited in sixty-six countries and hundreds of cities! Everything of a Big California City and Mountains Summer and Mountains Winter! Very clean and very organized inside. Town of Mammoth has one of the biggest ski/summer Resorts in U.S.A.! 95% must see and enjoy for one week. One hour by car from Yosemite National Park and five hours by car from Los Angeles.

When I arrived to this hostel, there was no one there except one other hosteller who was just leaving. There was no manager to be found. I made myself at home, watched cable TV, chose the best room to sleep in -- one with a queen-sized bed. The hostel is a mountain chalet, roomy, clean, fully stocked kitchen. I was surprised that the doors were left wide open with no one to watch over the place. I spent one night then wrote out a check and slid it under the locked office door with a thank you note.
