The Hostelz.com Review

Moby's Backpackers is the closest hostel to Hermanus' old harbour, less than 5 minutes away from the whale watching point. There is internet access, free teas and coffees but no common kitchen. It's clean, comfortable and the bedrooms are nice and brightly decorated.

It's an ex-hotel turned backpackers which means that all the rooms are ensuite (dorms too) but there are only few (small) "meeting" places apart from the bar (which is open to outside customers as well) and the pool.

I had a room here with two windows, which gave me the most beautiful views from my bed—one way I looked into a lovely garden, the other way to the mountains. The beds were kind of saggy, and the shower curtain didn't close properly, but the people who run the place were really wonderful. I was travelling alone (a young single female) and they introduced me to some great people in the next-door bar, and generally took extra care to make sure I was having a good time. I loved the town as well—it's got less of a touristy feel than a lot of the places along the Baz Bus route. This is one place I really want to visit again, and I wasn't even here when the whales were around!
