4 The place is a great stay in Zululand. It has comfortable rooms, excellent staff and superb food. It also has its own brewery on site. Plenty of opportunity to meet locals as well. One word of caution, though. We went to a Zulu ceremony as "they go to every one." No mention that it would cost 590 Rand for two people. It was only mentioned as we were about to leave. And for that money it really is NOT worth it.

2 Eshowe is a quaint African town. It's a wonderful experience to stay here. Accommodations at the Zulu Backpackers are meager at best (you pretty much get cement room with a cot. If you're lucky, you'll get a nicer room with a bed.) Staying here for a night or two is cool, but I don't recommend anything longer. If you have the extra money stay at the George Hotel (it's on the same property; see photo on website). The rooms are cold in the winter, so bring a good sleeping bag. The activities however are wonderful, so definitely stay in Eshowe; just not at Zulu Backbackers. The showers are either scalding hot or ice cold.
