The Hostelz.com Review
Mister Hostel is a neat hostel located in the central part of Lviv, Ukraine. It is open during the whole year. The price is one of the lowest in the city, you have all the basics that are to be expected from a hostel, and the staff are very friendly.
The Location
The location is very good. It is just in the center of Lviv, within a very short walking distance of the major sights and very easy to reach. If you come by train, you need to take a tram or bus, you can also take a minibus, called marshrutka. All of them are very cheap. The staff also told us that there are good transportation options to the airport, which should not be a surprise as the hostel is very centrally located. The hostel is within walking distance of the historical monuments in Lviv like the City Hall, the National Opera, the National Gallery, and many others.
Rooms and Bathrooms
At Mister Hostel you can choose between dorms and private rooms; there are blankets and linens and the beds are big and comfortable. The linens are replaced regularly and the rooms are clean. The six-bed rooms have three bunk beds as well as a table with two chairs but there is still enough space in the rooms. There are free lockers at the reception and this is a safe place for your laptop. The place is clean and there are no exotic smells or stains anywhere.
The bathrooms are clean, not sophisticated and the water is very hot, so be careful. There are enough showers -- five showers but only one toilet, and that might be a problem. The showers are slippery and the toilet is tiny and not comfortable at all. The showers are nice and it is not very common to wait for a shower.
Common Spaces
Other amenities include a laundry room with washers and dryer (you pay some nominal fee for it), a small kitchen with stove eyes and a refrigerator (food is cheap and tasty, so it is good to eat out), and there is also Wi-Fi. You must check out by noon. One good thing is that there is no deposit. The only problem is that there is no common space where you can actually meet the other people at the hostel, which might be a problem if you want to gather a crowd for going out. Most people meet in the kitchen, but it might not be so comfortable.
Mister Hostel is not a party hostel but it is common to have a few drinks there. Some guests take this liberty a bit far and the chance that you will meet tipsy or even drunk people is above average for a hostel. However, alcohol in Ukraine is cheap and strong, so be careful not to be in this position yourself.
The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and they can answer quite efficiently most of your questions concerning the city and even give you suggestions. You pay for your bed in Ukrainian hryvnias, so you need to have local currency when you get there.
Summary
Overall, the hostel is good and you receive good value for your money. We would definitely go there if we visit Lviv again.

Average, not so great hostel, but good location There are much nicer places in Lviv and the only real advantage of this place is the location. It was generally clean, but the atmosphere was not so nice -- very anonymous and basic. The "double room" turned out to be a room with five (!) beds, randomly distributed in the room, the covers where of such material that it was not very nice sleeping in them (cheapest quality), in the middle of the night we woke up because of the massive noise from across the street where there was some sort of dump. Wouldn't recommend this place, only if you're desperate and urgently need a place to crash for one night. — Lara , Germany (2011-09-24)
