Only a five-minute walk to Green Market Square in Cape Town but far enough outside of the city to get a good night’s rest. Easily accessible by car or public transport are Table Mountain and the beautiful beaches of the Cape.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are perfectly clean and cater for everything from eight-bed dorms to private ensuite rooms with balconies. There is even a teepee that sleeps two people. Bathrooms are bright and spacious with personal toilet and shower blocks. All beds come with fresh towels and linen.
Common Spaces
You can relax by the outdoor pool, have a sun downer on the bar deck, or cosy up on the couches by the fire in winter. There is plenty of space for socialising -- the bar puts on themed backpacker events most nights as well or you can meet friends in any of the inviting common areas.
Summary
If you are looking for a little more than just a regular budget backpackers, this is the whole package! Off season, the party atmosphere can be lacking, but regardless, this is one of Cape Town's top places to stay. On top of this they pride themselves in being a fair organisation so by staying here you are also giving back to the local community. As the name suggests, there is a great (and friendly!) travel centre open until 10 p.m. each day. Book ahead to ensure you get to experience a night in the teepee!

Great place and great value Visited in April 2012. Well-decorated, calm ambiance, very safe and clean. Staff incredibly helpful with Cape Town excursions and information. Close to Table Mountain and other sights. Seems very classy for a hostel, but isn't more expensive than other places. — Brandon , USA (2012-04-29)

visited capetown originally for a couple of days prior to traveling up the coast to joburg, ended up staying for nearly four weeks. its a place i'd love to call home -- overlooking the big mountain, right by long street. you just cant go wrong --
what a place! set the standard for the rest of the trip, the staff are great, food is wicked and the beer at 70 pence a go -- priceless. had a really good time, made at home by the best group of staff and other travelers. at the centre of everything in capetown. reccomend anyone going to south africa to firstly go to cape town and secondly make sure you're booked into the backpack. — rhys n em (2007-02-21)

I stayed at this place just for a weekend from Friday to Monday. They have several dorm style rooms and some double bed rooms as well. I was amazed by the pool and the included view on table Mountain. Really a good thing to have after a warm day. Beds, rooms, showers and the restaurant are clean and excellent. Internet was available too, but I would recommend to look for some cheaper place. Although it is still cheaper than in Europe, and it's even fast, so you could check everything within 15 minutes (min rate). There was even a little bit of entertainment during my stay. Some of the Irish guys gave a "Nightwalking"-performance during his stay at my dorm room. Well so far so good. Next time when I'm in CPT I will definitely start my trip here. You never who you might meet and continue to travel on with. Greetings from Germany. — Bobbydriver (2004-04-16)
